The Andrew Sisters - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (Saike Dutch House Mix)

in music •  7 years ago  (edited)

The Andrew Sisters was a group formed by the sisters LaVerne Sophie Andrews (contralto, July 6, 1911 - May 8, 1967), Maxene Angelyn Andrews (soprano, January 3, 1916 - October 21, 1995), and Patricia Marie Andrews, also known as Patty, (mezzosoprano and lead singer, February 16, 1918 - January 30, 2013.)

The Andrews Sisters specialize mostly in swing, boogie-woogie, and brand-new hits with their own personal signature: fast vocal syncopation. They also made great hits of jazz, ballads, folk, country-western and religious music, becoming Decca's first artists to record a gospel album in 1950. Their versatility allowed them to pair with many different artists in recording studios, To have Top 10 hits with celebrities like Bing Crosby (the only musical artist who sold more albums than the Andrews Sisters in 1940), Danny Kaye, Dick Haymes, Carmen Miranda, Al Jolson, Ray McKinley, Burl Ives, Ernest Tubb, Red Foley , Dan Dailey, Alfred Apaka, and Les Paul. In personal appearances in radio and television, they sang with personalities like Rudy Vallee, Judy Garland and Nat "King" Cole, Jimmie Rodgers, Andy Williams, and The Supremes.

When the sisters came to the musical stage in the late 1930s, they stirred the solid musical foundations of that time. They produced a very successful harmonious mix, singing at full throttle in an attempt to get the sound of three harmonized trumpets, leaning on a band of music. Some band directors of the moment, such as Artie Shaw and his musicians, resented them for stealing their protagonism and emphasize their voices. They were as much in demand as the band's own directors, many of whom did not want to share the lead with the trio of girls.

Nevertheless, they had an immediate reception between the adolescent and adult public, fascinated by the swing and the jazz. The Andrews Sisters played with most of the major bands including Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, Joe Venuti, Freddie Slack, Eddie Heywood, Bing Crosby's brother Bob Crosby, , Desi Arnaz, Guy Lombardo, Les Brown, Bunny Berigan, Xavier Cugat, Paul Whiteman, Ted Lewis, Nelson Riddle and Gordon Jenkins, whose orchestra and choir accompany them with soft and melancholy performances as in "I Can Dream, Can not I ? " (Which was number 1 on Billboard, and remained in the Top 10 25 weeks), "I Wanna Be Loved", "There Will Never Be Another You", and the exceptional "The Three Bells" English speech that was recorded of this French song).
