As a result of director Bryan Singer's "unexpected unavailability," the production of Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic about Freddie Mercury, the Queen's lead singer, was paused.
In a statement to EW on Friday, the studio that is producing the film, Twentieth Century Fox Film, said "Bohemian Rhapsody's production was paused due to an unexpected unavailability of Bryan Singer."
The reason for Singer's removal, also released by the BBC, is that of a "personal health problem about Bryan and his family" and that the director hopes to return to the film after the holidays.
Bohemian Rhapsody will bring Rami Malek as Queen's lead singer, Freddie Mercury. Even with the delay in production, the film still has to hit theaters on December 27, 2018.
