Long Player {LP} 1984 by Van Halen. David Lee Roth lead singing for the last time. Eddy van Halen doing his magic on guitar but also did a lot of keyboard on this album. Best know song for me 'Jump'.
Do not know if it could be classified hard rock. Jump had some synthesized whirls that made it very pop like. Great energetic song, something to start a day with. To get to what's real...
Found this album today between lots of other LPs. Doubted if I would buy it, good condition, only a fiver, but no record player. So, I let it be. Still, it kind of itches.
Maybe I'll have it put aside, buy it for nostalgic reasons...

I remember it well!! It was hard to class it as hard rock with all that keyboard but it was still catchy as hell!

It sure was and it still has a rockin' vibe. The keyboard intermezzo, like Eddy was soloing his strings. Almost getting a bit like 'where is this going', like the Plasmatics in 'butcher baby', yet more rock steady. Then like magic getting back in one piece with the 'tum tum tum tudum' that started the song.
Think it is empowering even after decades. So wont go and listen to it now. Want to close me hatches soon.
But it might go down well in the morning. "I get up! And nothing gets me down." :-)
