Is Steem awesome for bands crowdfunding their EPs?

I wanna find out if Steem works for upcoming musicians, too.

So, let me tell you about a unique music project. Three girls and two guys from widely different genres have come together and formed an music entity, the likes of which you’ve probably never heard before.

The raw passion from punk is balanced with the John Mayer-inspired guitar tone of blues, which is even more balanced out by the clean tones of the classical clarinet.

Annie Woodward had originally been touring alone for a few years. Bringing only her voice and her guitar onto hundreds of underground stages, she fascinated crowds in all corners of the world with her passionate lyrics and stage performances. Now, she wanted do the same with a full band behind her.

At a bar in Oslo late November 2015, Annie gathered her favorite pick of musicians and proposed forming a musical unit – her own circus. Annie and the Circus went on to play almost 20 concerts in Norway and Poland over the next 6-8 months and released their single “The Message” in June 2016.

Okay, I will stop writing as if I am not a part of the band. I am the guitarist. Alright, we continue:

Our crowdfunding project

The next step is to record an EP. However, studio work in Norway can really take a toll on a musician’s wallet (as can most things in this country), so a studio in Granada, Spain, has been booked for the recording of 6 songs. This is a lot cheaper, but we still need to fund the project somehow. Therefore, we are doing a crowdfunding campaign, and hopefully a Steemit campaign can help us out as well.

If you click this link, you'll see a video with me (the guitarist) and the singer Annie. The sound quality is not great, but we are explaining what kind of project we have going on.

You into diversity? Then you'll love this band!

We are essentially a group of very different musicians, and people attending our concerts are usually quite struck by the diversity in our band, which makes for an interesting dynamic.

Not only are we quite different musically, but also in personality and politically. As for me and Annie, it’s the voluntaryist Ron Paul kinda guy and the socialist Bernie Sanders kinda girl putting their differences aside to make music. Hopefully with some noticeable tension that makes the music more interesting.

We have agreed to not use political lyrics in our music. However, we surely do agree that most people of this world need a wake-up call in their unconscious daily life, which will be a theme in several songs on the EP.

We would love your Steem dollars or a few fiat dollars on the crowdfunding page to help us realize our project. We will pay it back (musically)! Thanks ☺

Sort Order:

I'm really hoping that Steem gets more on the artistic ball. Music, art, writing, fandom could all be revolutionized by this platform if enough likeminded people can be brought over. It needs to reach an artistic tipping point.

My guess (and hope) would be yes!
A lot of people seem to come here thinking it's basically Reddit, and you can just go find anything on the web and repost it for massive profit.

As it turns out, Steemers are a bit more savvy than that. What really gets rewarded here is original content and well written thought provoking articles - just take a look at the front page, and you'll see this in action.

I can see Steemit potentially being a fantastic - and profitable - outlet for new and upcoming musicians. Good luck!

Thank you! :)
