Your ears.. cover your ears!! So awesome that this footage exists. Just a few days after the release of The Beatles album 'Sgt Peppers', Hendrix rocks the title track in London. My favorite part (aside from throwing the cigarette) was the fact that, at least in the short time we see the end of the song, the crowd doesn't even know how to respond.
I saw a youtube comment that I thought was a pretty clean preface so I'll quote that..
"The Beatles released sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band on June 1, 1967 and The Jimi Hendrix Experience covered it three days later on the 4th but Jimi had bought the album the same day he played at the Saville Theatre. The whole band (including Jimi) learned the song 15 minutes before going on stage because they heard McCartney and Harrison were in the crowd."
In 2010, McCartney reflected on the moment at a solo show and seemed to look back on it lovingly (and perhaps a little foggy?). I'll attach that clip as well.

I actually just put all of my old Beatles music on my phone again. Glad to hear Help! again. Haha. Love them and Hendrix. Good post! Cheers!
