"Nothing good starts in a getaway car" but something good will end with "Getaway Car" and that is the era of the Reputation album!
Getaway Car is definitely one of my favorite songs recorded for Reputation, Taylor Swift's 6th album. The song was a synth-pop number, written and produced by the one and only T Swizzle along with Jack Antonoff.
It is the perfect song to end the Reputation era, in my opinion, for it has this dramatic story being told through a song. It makes me imagine cinematic visuals with a great plot and amazing twist. I can picture the scenes in my head clearly. An adventure, a heist, a police chase, and a love story with no happily ever after ending. A music video ala True Romance by Quentin Tarantino with an 8os vibe. As per Time.com, Getaway Car is one of Swift's most metaphor-driven tracks on the album.
The song was really catchy and was conceptually perfect for the album. And when I say conceptually perfect, it really claims her "reputation" and admitted that she also made a mistake. She calls herself and his another lover "traitors". At the end, she took the keys, left the guy and maybe made everything right again. Claiming her freedom and, this time, choosing the right decision.
Taylor Swift is getting away and will welcome us to another era. I cannot wait for TS7!
