Bonnie Raitt and The Green Highway Environmental Involvement
Efforts Through Music
Due to her involvement in environmental movements from the mid -1970s Bonnie Raitt is considered by a majority as the Godmother of green touring, she has performed several shows in support of water protection, oil, forest, and mining. Moreover, Bonnie is a founder member of MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy) which in 1979 produced the celebrated NO NUKES album, movie, and concerts. She frequently raises funds for a variety of not-for-profit grassroots and national associations, lobbies in Washington, and has even been under arrest two times for supporting change of forest policy.
Green Touring
In the summer of 2002 during her tour, she initiated Green Highway. The Green Highway is touring eco-village offering information to people at concerts about substitute energy solutions like wind and solar power, exhibiting Honda Hybrid automobiles and connecting supporters to local environmental issues and organizations. Furthermore, Green Energy has been incorporated into all Bonnie’s tours since, and this green touring model with education and supporters outreach has functioned as the template for a majority of countrywide trips today.

Green Activism
The blues songwriter-singer, Bonnie Raitt, has been a long-serving activist who endorses a more ecological way of life. The artist’s environmental activism starts with herself, as a part of her duty to support clean energy she uses B99 biofuel for her trip buses. Rolling Stone labels the green activism of Bonnie Raitt as one that precedes almost any artist on the green course today, beginning most conspicuously with her co-founding of MUSE as a reaction to the 1979 Three Mile Island nuclear incident.

@mintvilla, It's actually a wonderful thing that I think artists with fame have a responsibility they need to hold for the environment because of their impact on the environment.
