Madlib is back with a new track and a new 7" inch. Good luck getting your hands on it though. (audio) It's hard to believe that it's been this long since we've heard any new beats from one of the most prolific beat makers of all time, Madlib. But much like another famous, obsessive music maker who goes through periods of dumping tons of music on the people before disappearing from the public eye (I'll let you guess who), I think Madlib has earned his right to release music whenever he wants (look at his discography if you need proof). So with out warning, Madlib dropped this extremely rare, limited 7" with two yet unheard beats and the results are, well, pretty typical for Madlib, and I mean that in the best possible way. It has all of the familiar trademarks of a post-Champion Sound Madlib sound: a dusty, chopped up loop done in a way that only the man can, with plenty of bounce, and more pronounced drums than some of his other tracks. In truth, this really sounds like track that would have fit in perfectly on Freddie Gibbs' and Madlib's collab album, Pinata (which I'll keep my fingers crossed that Bandana will be coming out this year). It may not be a ground breaking track for the man, but it's still good to hear new music from the man. Hopefully this is a sign that we'll be hearing more from the man soon, as well as actually being able to get our hands on it.

Bonus: check out this fantastic interview with the man from a few years ago.[youtube
