One Direction vs The Beatles

About a year ago, I stumbled upon a question on Quora regarding the comparison between One Direction and The Beatles and it was answered in a very beautiful way and I was so satisfied with the answer that I saved it for future read, which I am presenting here. It is quite long, but worth it if you are music lover.

Question: Is it okay to compare One Direction to The Beatles?

Answer:

1. Let's say One Direction started playing their own instrument on all their recordings, and playing them as well as anyone playing nowadays.

2. Then, let's say One Direction starts to write all their songs, here again, setting the standard for their times, writing some of the best song anyone in music is producing.

3. Then, Let's say One Direction scores more hits and number one hits than anyone before them. At one point, they have an unprecedented 6 of the top 10 songs on the charts, all at the same time.

4. Let's say One Direction begins to influence all other bands. Not only do all other bands start to try emulating them, many are formed just because One Direction exists.

5. Eventually, One Direction becomes the new standard for music. They have created a whole new genre (as The Beatles made the self-writing rock band the new standard for pop-rock) of music that ever after becomes the new standard.

6. Then, One Direction comes out with an album that becomes a sensation, bigger than Rubber Soul. But then they do it again (like Revolver), and again (like the White Album), and again (like Seargent Pepper's).Each time, college campuses are eerily silent because everyone is in their dorm rooms listening to One Direction's latest sensation.

7. Eventually, almost all One Direction's album score in every list of the top 100 albums of all time and One Direction will have more albums in this list than any other band in history, dominating the top10 albums of all time as well.

8. Finally every band that comes after One Direction will owe some allegiance to them as blazing the trail for the new way music will be done.
