One time I was about to leave the house, as I catch part of a piece in the news, about four Tuareg warriors that layed down their weapons to become musicians. I didn't get the chance to watch it, but those few seconds of them playing Desert Blues, mesmerised me and made me want more. The sound is hypnotic and heartfelt, very inspiring.
Searched for them on the web, but to this day I still don't know the band's name. I must say that there is alot of music of the genre out there now. But at the time the only thing I found was this legend:

Something very diferent, to open our ears a bit. πŸ™‚
I love how they play the guitar aswell, singing note for note, much more interesting than strumming chords, not very common in western music, except from the south of the USA blues. It is much more "guitaristic". I consider western guitar music to be heavily influenced by the piano, doesn't take anything away from the guitar, infact it adds to the instrument, that is so dynamic. But the music we listen to is saturated with this, if I make any sense here. πŸ™ƒ
Anyway, no one can go wrong with learning guitar this way, singing the notes, it will make for a tremendous ear. πŸ˜‰
Let me finish this blog with another song, not from Ali Farka TourΓ©, but from something I'm listening to right now, and that I had not heard before, Terakaft.

No links this time. πŸ˜‚

wow. my former roommate is from Mali. He introduced me to desert blues, cool stuff

I love guitar music, and this is really good. Switching from the traditional instruments to electric guitars really made up for a great sound.

I was going to mention Ali Fark TourΓ©'s work with Ry Cooder, but I forgot about it. Make sure you check it out. :)
