Baglama Saz - A Turkish Stringed Instrument

in music •  5 years ago

I bought a baglama saz a few months ago made in Istanbul Turkey. It has seven strings with three notes. The top two strings are tuned to bflat the middle two strings are tuned to f and the bottom three are tuned to c.
Below are all the videos I've made with the baglama saz so far.

This was made on the first day I got the baglama saz.
This composition includes some drums along with the saz. I also tested out the piezo pickup on this song.
This song combines a few Arabic instrument like a tar drum, doumbek, the baglama saz and an Egyptian oud.
Here's another improvisation with just the baglama saz. I may add some percussion to this some day.
This song features tanpura (via swar plug), udu, doumbek and shaker tracks for rhythm and percussion. To close out the song I added my hijaz tuned handpan which complements the saz really well because the tuning is in the same key.
This song is an experiement with adding some electric guitar with the baglama saz. You just need to play in the right scales on the guitar which can be a bit tricky compared to normal scales.
This song was an experiement with just using the baglama saz by itself. I did some tapping on the body of the instrument for percussion and added a few tracks of lead.
This is the latest song I've made on the saz. It's an homage to the endless gray skies during the spring here in Illinois

Thanks for watching and listening. I highly recommend learning this instrument, it's easy to play and you can get alot of versatility out of the notes.
