Goofing around recording stuff

in music •  7 years ago

Long time no talk Steemit.

I haven't been as active on here as I intended to be. I've stayed stuck in FB land, and am about to fix that problem. I figured I'd toss this up here. I got an iRig awhile back and decided to play around recording some things just for fun. This little experiment reminded me why I miss having an actual drummer. Programming drums is annoying....so I tend to use quick, simple, pre-made loops for that stuff. I'm digging into doing more in depth stuff. For now just goofing off on the fly and seeing what comes out of it.

My little corner with some toys:

Did this song on the fly on a random Saturday. Put together a quick drum line, and then just started recording to see what happened. Popped it out in about 30 minutes to an hour. When I was doing the band thing, I tended to spend way too much time writing, perfecting, etc...to the point I'd have to stop myself before I overdid and ruined something. Since it's just me goofing off right now, I've found it kind of fun to just run something out fast and see what happens with it. On a good note, I'm getting better at the gymnastics involved with trying to record bass and guitar while having a couple little hooligans creating their own mini mosh pit around my feet.

Mini moshers...and why I have to record direct with an iRig since they grab mics:

I'm eventually going to put more effort into some of these and get some vocals on too. Maybe I'll get this one on a mic.
