I have been posting most weekends using @detlev’s #metalweekend tag, but my main love of music is progressive and alternative music. Some of my posts have included these songs, but I feel they are not keeping with the spirit of metal.
I will continue to post article’s using #metalweekend occasionally but feel I have more to offer regarding these other genre’s that I am more familiar with.

I say never ever to return because I think sadly this is now the case. Since the release of ‘Static & Silence’ in 1997 we have hardly heard a peep from this 90’s excellent indie band.
The last I heard, they were bakers and working out of a shop in the Bristol area. What a complete waste of talent!
In 2014 this turned up, but FOUR years later and we are still hearing nothing. So do they still have it? Can they give us that great music again?
I was fortunate enough to see this band during the Static tour of 1997. It was at the Manchester Academy, a very small venue all standing and 200 people maximum. I came out quite deaf, but witnessed one of the finest concerts of my life.
What I can give you is THREE of song from the past from one of my favourite bands.
The Sundays - You're Not the Only One I Know
I found the debut album of this band (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic) very hard to crack, perhaps because it was so different than anything else at the time.
This particular song is a favourite of mine from this album, which incidentally they never seemed to play live at their gigs.
The Sundays - Blood on my Hands
I could have picked any song from the Blind album, it’s just that good. I found this one more accessible than the debut album, perhaps it was because I had now become accustomed to their sound.
This is a live recording, but not of good quality. They never produced an official live performance so we need to be content with dodgy bootlegs sourced from YouTube.
The Sundays - Through the Dark
It wouldn't be me if I was to post ‘Summertime’ as the last song. No, here’s an obscure ‘B-Side’ for you which was on one of the CD singles issued with the final album. Their ‘B-Sides’ were great, and I really don’t know why this was omitted from the final album.
In the spirit of @detlev’s original idea, you need to remember one thing.
Pump up the volume, PLAY IT LOUD!

I feel like I have heard this band before, but as I scroll through some of the song titles, nothing is really jumping out at me. I might have to add them to my rotation. I have been listening to a lot of jazz lately as I work in my office because it helps me focus and stay calm :)
