ANVIL was formed when high school friends Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner began playing music together in 1973 out of Toronto, Ontario Canada. By 1978 the line up consisted Steve "Lips" Kudlow (lead vocals, lead guitar), Robb Reiner (drums), Dave "Squirrely" Allison (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Ian "Dix" Dickson (bass). The band at the time was called LIPS.
In 1981, with the release of their independent album "HARD AND HEAVY", the band were signed shortly thereafter by Attic Records and renamed the band to ANVIL. Attic Records released the independent record as their debut album. In 1982, "METAL ON METAL" was released.
The current lineup (yes, they still play) consists of Steve "Lips" Kudlow (guitar, vocals), Robb Reiner (drums) and Chris Robertson (bass).
