THE KINGS are a Canadian Rock Band that were formed in the mid 1970's out of Vancouver, British Columbia and Oakville, Ontario Canada. The original line up consisted of David Diamond, (David Broadbent, bass, lead vocals), Mister Zero (John Picard, guitar), Sonny Keyes (Nicholas Peter, keyboards, vocals), and Max Styles (drums), with Zero and Diamond serving as the main songwriters with contributions from Keyes.
THE KINGS went to Nimbus 9 Studio in Toronto to record their first album in early 1980 and while recording, famed producer Bob Ezrin (Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, KISS, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, etc.), visited the studio, listened to the band and liked what he heard. THE KINGS and Bob Ezrin collaborated and created the album "THE KINGS ARE HERE" which included the much under rated 80's anthem "THE BEAT GOES ON / SWITCHING TO GLIDE".
I had the extreme pleasure to meet ZERO a few years back at a gig I played at The Boston Manor out of Burlington, Ontario Canada. A super sweet guy.
Enjoy this fun gem from the 1980's Canadian scene!
