My very favorite instrument, and there are only a very few of them in the World.

There is a video of my favorite musical instrument, and they are very rare! It was invented by Ben Franklin, and is made on a rotating shaft, of stacked precision blown glass bowels. It is played with wet fingers, and it is called an Armonica. Thee music is different, and at one time they would not allow a pregnant woman to listen to it for fear it would drive her into labor.

haha! sir smithlabs..ya'll have some weird taste in musical instruments up there, that thing is strange, sounds strange, looks strange, IS strange.

Strange instruments, Strange choice in social media, strange friends...L@@Ks like a wash to me, ROFLOL! :)

yes sir, strange people gather in strange places to meet each other and talk about strange things like strange instruments. but Benjamin Franklin was quite the inventor!

I was reading about Mr Franklin, when I found this instrument; LOL! He did indeed invent a lot of new things; including the bifocals he is always pictured wearing.... :)

ha! I didn't know that, how interesting, he had a need and took care of it himself!

That is a good way to be! I admire him a lot, smart and hard headed, even if he was mostly bald, LOL! :)

haha! I suppose he reminds you of yourself there smithlabs?

Well. I have a full head of hair, ROFLOL! :) He was impressive at critical thinking!

Yep, you run into strange people in strange company in strange places!

haha! yes sir willymac! and on steemit here, extremely different religions views and cultures and yet we can all get along, what a great model and proof that it can be done!

It is a great example and one of the things about Steemit that appeals to me. It proves that those differences don't matter as much as some people make them out to.

yes sir I agree totally. hey you should get into steemitbloggers if you're interested I'll send you a link. I also met another gentleman from Texas who is wonderful, closer to our ages and met him through steemitbloggers. he is sultnpapper and a wonderful guy down by ...dang I forget..Austin I think.

Thanks for the steemitbloggers suggestion, Tex. I have reservations about time constraints, but I would at least like to try. Some really good stuff comes from the members, so maybe there is a contagion there I can learn from.

No doubt whatever that you deserve the honor.

BTW, I think @sultnpapper is an interesting fellow and I added him to my follow list. Thanks for that reference, also.

Very interesting instrument!
I had never even heard of it

It is not easy to find, but it is worth the effort. An almost haunting musical instrument; with a pure tone and a soft voice.

I hope you enjoyed the music! :)

Very cool.

Kind of bridges the gap between a musical instrument, and a bell choir. Some of the purest tones that can ever come from a musical instrument! Amazing machine; that infects the soul with a love for music from this one of a kind, instrument!

Here is background information on the Armonica from Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_harmonica

Glass harmonica
The glass harmonica, also known as the glass armonica, glass harmonium, bowl organ, hydrocrystalophone, or simply the armonica or harmonica (derived from ἁρμονία, harmonia, the Greek word for harmony), is a type of musical instrument that uses a series of glass bowls or goblets graduated in size to produce musical tones by means of friction (instruments of this type are known as friction idiophones).

Leave my page alone. >:(

How did you discover such a thing?

Eclectic reading on Ben Franklin. But, I do love to listen to this instrument! The only thing close I ever heard directly was some pipe chimes that I rebuilt and tied into a church organ with a capacitive (mylar) pickups.

But the tones of this instrument are always perfect, and a good player can hold a note, perfectly pitched for a solid minute, while they bring in other notes to build a cord! It is like the breath of an Angel....

A really good player can get you to hold your breath, so you don't miss any single notes.

:)

Thanks for sharing. New to me and I enjoyed hearing it. Very very neat!

The tone of the Armonica is so pure that I have never heard any other instrument even close. I am glad you enjoyed it, there are so few, I have never seen one except in recordings. But I really do like listening to them!
:)

Very cool! You are a true master of the unusual and interesting topics!

Student maybe, but never a Master. This music is haunting with such pure tones I really do love it! :D

Some of the great masters wrote music for this instrument. I would like to hear more.

You know, this bot bothers me! I TOLD EVERYONE THIS LINK WAS WIKIPEDIA!

Hint everyone knows, so LEAVE! >:(

I have muted this bot, does anyone know if this will keep him off of my page? :)
