50 years now
The movie Sound Of Music scored excellently on storytelling, location, voice/diction, costume and musicals. Perhaps no other movie on earth has displayed the dexterity in delivery as that exhibited by the Von Trapp Family singers anchored by no one else but Maria. All the Music tracks delivered by Maria and the Captains seven [7] children remains a soothing tune to people who understands English language in different creeds, age and color for the past 50 years and still counting.
This year as the golden jubilee is celebrated, the movie has graced different cinemas and film theater across the globe. Smart entrepreneurs created a power point presentation of the creation to remind the world of classic production.
Nothing beats the scenery where the movie was cast. From the bell tolling at the Abbey, the musical reverend sisters, the legendary ball at Captains home, Captains first daughter Liesl's love songs with Rolphe, the manicured streets, the top of the hills musical rendition and lots more. They are ever and easily remembered by anyone who must have seen the movie. All these were achieved for the fact that the cast were led in thorough rehearsal in a Monastery for over ninety days before filming began.
A plus to the musical expertise of the movies is that all the tracks sang are now packaged and used as normal music track. In many schools, tracks from Sound Of Music are recited with great joy and fanfare. These tracks include:-
- Edelweiss
- My Favorite Things
- Climb Ev'ry Mountain
- Do-Re-Mi
- The Sound of Music - the film track
Many movie addicts opined that the movie – Sound Of Music will remain a toast to many as children remains the center piece of the production backed with the Christian Roman Catholic background and the demise of Hitler’s infamous reign.
The world may never experience such a mastery in musical film production in the next few years.
