Ah, the Sweeney theme tune, so dramatic. I went to the independent booksellers conference one year and they had a seventies themed fancy dress event on the last night (booksellers know how to party), the live music was a disco group, all platform boots and glitter and they were running seventies shows like the Sweeney and Minder on a big screen at the back. I think the menu might have been prawn cocktail, chicken chasseur and black forest gateau.

Wow! that weekend world tune, I haven't heard it in decades. I must agree it its great, especially the end. Had no idea who the band was then either.

I always thought 'In That Quiet Earth' was part of some TV jingle or something especially the back part of it... its just got that news and current affairs 70's type of sound.

Another one I think that was in some jingles from the old days is Focus - House of the King. Just look at those flares!

That Focus one is familiar. Some more tunes get used a lot. Obviously instrumental is preferred. I hear a lot of Philip Glass on TV on various things.

Here's a couple more..

World In Action

And this used to really creep me out.. its still got some bite now too. They really knew how to do theme tunes then.

I was right then :)

I wasn't born back then but all I know is that the music was the best part back in the late 70's all the way to the mid 90'!! Artists like Micheal Jackson and bands like the Beatles!!

There's always great music around, but I was talking about theme tunes in particular.

I love theme songs. Here is my favourite by far!

Video is blocked here. Trying to stream an episode on the official site, but that's buffering forever. I like some stuff Noel does, but not seen this one

Give it a shot. It is way way out there!
