77-year old, Paul McCartney is still very much alive an kicking! This weekend, he played his final show of his Freshen Up tour at Dodgers Stadium in LA. And he had a few surprises to wrap everything up.
During the encore of his impressive 38 song playlist for the evening, he announced to the crowd:
“We’ve got a surprise for us, a surprise for you, a surprise for everyone!"
And motioning to the back, encouraged everyone to welcome his former bandmate, the one and only, Ringo Starr!
Ringo strutted up to the front of the stage before embracing McCartney and turning to the audience with his signature "peace and love".
The evening highlights include the Beatles duo playing Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Helter Skelter and Paul shooting Mr. Starkey a meaningful "I love you, man".
Ringo, fresh off his 79th birthday, wasn't the only former Beatle present at the show. Paul also brought along a ukulele that was gifted to him by the late George Harrison, using it to play George's composition "Something". Paul also urged the crowd to tell people "I love you" while you still can, before busting out his rendition of "Here Today" which Paul wrote as a conversation with John Lennon after his death.
Ringo Starr's brother-in-law, Eagle's Guitarist Joe Walsh, was likewise brought on stage to lend his soloist skills and accompaniment to help McCartney wrap up the show with the dramatic Abbey Road medley from Golden Slumbers into Carry That Weight and finally, The End..
Paul later tweeted a picture of the two together, with a cheeky caption: "Meet the Beagles!"
Fans present were just as hysterical as when the Fab Four used to rock out over 5 decades ago..
The old guys still have it, and it doesn't look like they are ready to give it up any time soon.. Paul ending the show
"There's only one thing left to be said.. We'll see you next time!!"
..before disappearing behind an explosion of smoke and confetti.
Timeless..
