TMZ is reporting Prodigy from the rap group Mobb Deep has died at the age of 42 from complications due to sickle cell anemia.

Mobb Deep had to be one of my favorite hip hop acts growing up. IMHO this may have been one of the best hip hop tracks ever produced.
When I first started dj'ing I started out spinning Drum and Bass, I absolutely loved throwing down the drum and bass version of this track. It would always get the hall bumping !

Great track, randomly came to mind, I ended up posting it then listening to it all the way through, hadn't heard in a while. I'm glad 50 picked them up when he did because they deserved some cash for being such consistent artists for so long, sad to see him go. Wonder what Havoc will be up to, would love to see a tribute come from this loss, a lot of great NY rap could come together old and new.
