The Day Kraftwerk Really Invented Techno

in music •  6 years ago  (edited)

I know Kraftwerk are largely cited as the godfathers of techno and hugely influenced the Detroit producers of the late 80s and early 90s but the stuff that usually gets referred to as influencing them is the music Kraftwerk were producing during and around the time of their international breakthrough (’74-’76) and beyond, their more polished more pop sounding stuff. This, on the other hand, is so so raw, and as the title states has all the makings of proper modern techno hidden in its synth rhythms all driven by that 4/4 kick drum.

The audiences faces at certain points make me laugh though. "I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet… But your kids are gonna love it.“
