Recording My Tinfoil Rap Song-- I Have GarageBand!

in music •  7 years ago

At first, I was a little bit disappointed with the new Mac computer.

I had already heard that the new Macs don't come with the GarageBand app, and I had presumed that I would have to purchase the latest version of GarageBand in order to download it.

I didn't want to have to buy Garageband when I still had an old version of the app on my little iBook G4, so whenever I wanted to record any new music, I would just use the old Mac.

Yesterday, that all changed.

Out of curiosity, I went to the Apple store to see how much a new GarageBand would cost, and there was no price showing... it was FREE!

A Click or Two Later...

The download is complete now. I have the newest version of GarageBand! All this time I thought it was going to cost too much, and that I might never get around to buying it when I had my trusty iBook for recording projects.

By popular request, the first song that I'll be recording will be the tinfoil rap piece 'It Is Unreal' that I composed for the @v4vapid recent Tinfoil Rap Contest.

Next time there's a Tinfoil Rap Contest, I'll be ready. If I want to win a rap contest, I'm going to have to rap, it's as simple as that. I've tweaked the lyrics, and then found a recording of some of my old music that I can rap over, a bit of jam which magically fit the groove.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I'll say don't be like me. Don't sit around for 6 months on a new Macintosh computer wishing you had a decent recording app, when GarageBand is downloadable and free on that Mac!

Exactly!

You're so nice for commenting on this post. For that, I gave you a vote!

thank you so much @rewardpoolrape

You are welcome.

I used to be really into digital music production. In fact I tried to major in it in college like 25 years ago but it didn't work out.

Thinking back that far, I remember playing around with a Fostex 4-track cassette recorder, discovering how hard it really was to make a multitrack recording sound like a song.

@therealpaul .....you earlier said that;

At first, I was a little bit disappointed with the new Mac computer.

I guess this happens to everyone during their first encounter with it...
Secondly, its good hearing that GarageBand is free so i guess i am good to go with my music....
Thanks for sharing this useful information

I never learned how to use a PC, I started on an iBook from around 2005, so I mostly was familiar with Mac, but I thought all this time I would have to pay a few hundred dollars for GarageBand!

"App stores" with free things confuse me! How can you call it a store when you're giving away free stuff? If an "app store" is just a place you go to get software, I'm used to calling these places "repositories."

Can't wait to hear your rap! I read it and tried to imagine the tune and the flow in my head. I wonder how close I am.

I remember messing around with garage band! Damn with all that rap music you're going to have to join "TheCut" rap group here on steemit :p.

There's no way I'm joining a rap group-- I've made hundreds of dollars in the music industry, I'm trying to retire here!

Nice. I've been doing daily freestyle unrehearsed raps on my page. Check out my last one. https://steemit.com/crypto/@jaguarpawmu/show-me-love-steemit-here-s-your-daily-unrehearsed-rap
