A tour through my collection #9

In this series of articles I will randomly pick a cd or DVD out of my collection and write a little story about it. My collection has been in storage for some time but I love to go through it now that it is on display once again. The collection holds about 300+ cd’s and the same amount of DVD’s.

For today I picked a cd: Music from the Motion Picture Pulp Fiction by Various artists

Artist info:
Not one artist but a whole bunch on this compilation album by the hit movie Pulp Fiction, one of my all-time favourite movies. Another great compilation of songs gather by Quentin Tarantino to invigorate this masterpiece.

Album info:
The film contains a mix of American rock and roll, surf music, pop and soul. The soundtrack is equally nontraditional, consisting of nine songs from the movie, four tracks of dialogue snippets followed by a song, and three tracks of dialogue alone. Seven songs featured in the movie were not included in the original 41-minute soundtrack. (source Wikipedia)

My story with this album:
I recall that my brother rented this movie on VHS back in the day and that my first thought was not so positive when we started watching it with all the small cuts and not chronological telling of the story. But it grew on me as we were watching it and by the end of the movie we rewinded the tape and watched it again. Over the years I think I have seen this movie about fifty times, not only enjoying the movie but also the amazing sound track. So no surprise I have this movie as well as the OST in my collection. What a great album for just sitting and listening to it, or playing it in the car and singing with it at the top of my longs and off course knowing all the dialogs on it by hearth.
Especially the songs "Son of a Preacher Man", "Jack Rabbit Slims Twist Contest/You Never Can Tell" and "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" go on repeat at least once when playing this album. Overall I like the somewhat weird collection of songs on this album. I know I am going to listen to this album again in the very nearby future.
