Not too long ago, I was relaxing at home when I've heard a door ring.
It was the mailman, who gave me a strange looking package with a lot of stamps. Really a lot! Just look at this:
20 mail stamps!? I don't think I remember seeing 20 stamps in the same package... ever. At this point, I had no clue of what this was... nor why I had received it.
I only knew this came from Moscow, Russia... and the name and address were correct. (Both are covered in the above photo by my phone, for privacy reasons.)
Upon opening it... I was even more confused. What a big package, very well packed and with lots of duct tape:
After removing all of that duct tape, I've finally saw what it was: Arkona's Double DVD Edition of "10 лет во Славу" (10 Years of Glory)
I had ordered this at www.discogs.com and I wasn't expecting it to arrive so quickly. I thought I would have to wait 2 months, like when I buy stuff from China!
This was a pleasant surprise. It was my first buy at this site and I'll probably use it again. The prices for lesser known albums in www.discogs.com are usually a lot better than in any other site such as Amazon or Ebay.
Great album, great packaging, great artwork! I love it when bands go the extra mile to do something nice like this:
This is a full-length live-album, published on 2 DVDs, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the band and it was recorded live in 2012, at the Concert Hall in Moscow.
36 songs... 3 hours of concert! What a performance!!! 😈

I love it when packages come early. I do find it funny, you are A LOT closer to China than I am and it still takes 2 months. It must be a Chinese rule then "we can only ship once the order has been in place for 2 months. LOL. I even found out a good portion of the stuff we get here in the US are sitting in those lovely shipping containers and are already here. It must take 2 months to find anything LOL.
Going to have to check them out. As a rule I like metal. I know European definition of Metal and American are 2 different worlds. Honestly, American Metal is quite tame comparitively.

I know a few American bands... but now that you talk about it, it seems all the innovation lately has come mostly from Europe. Long gone are the times when American bands were the only ones on top!

Planes... I thought they might be using sampans (sorry bad joke) If it actually comes on a freighter to the US via the Pacific ocean it can take 15-30 days YIKES.
As far as new metal in America there isn't any really. If you listen to it, it's a rehash sound. That last truly distinct metal band I honestly feel is Korn, their newest stuff has become rehashed.
One of my favorite artist though is Corey Taylor. To go from Stone Sour to Slipknot to solo all interchangeably. Gee maybe we should start music critiquing. Do it as a joint thing, one week you pick a band, then the next week and we can come up with some corney name. Yeah always looking at fun ways to do things.
