Crobot - Grooverock from Pennsylvania

in music •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemians,

let me introduce to you this dirty grooverock playing band from Pennsylvania. I listened to them constantly 1 year ago and today they came back in my mind through todays song of the day by @calisay - the riffs of the song he posted reminded me about the powerful music of Crobot and I really haven't listened to them far too long - thank you @calisay!

Not For Sale from the latest album Welcome to Fat City from 2016

Crobot was formed in 2011 by singer Brandon Yeagley and guitarist Chris Bishop - both are still part of the band while the other band members changed in 2017. As answer to their main influences Yeagley said:

We all bring different spices to add to our riff gumbo. A little Queens of the Stone Age, a bit of Black Sabbath, a heaping pile of Led Zeppelin, a dash of Rage Against the Machine, a touch of Soundgarden, and a whole pile of Clutch. Oh, and the special sauce of course.
Interview

There is not much more to say about them - they are great, powerful and my feed are moving to every song - give it a listen!

  • 2012: The Legend of the Spaceborne Killer
  • 2014: Something Supernatural
  • 2016: Welcome to Fat City

As this short teaser on youtube shows they are currently working on a new album to be released in 2018! Can't wait for it! Unfortunately i listened Welcome to Fat City to death. Solution? Something older:

Legend of the Spaceborne Killer from their debut EP in 2012

I had never heard them. Good sound!!!

Well then, glad you passed by :)

Never heard of them either! Man I was hooked from that killer intro riff from 'Not for Sale' - guna add them to my Spotify and have a better listen tommorow!

That voice.. sounds very similar to Myles Kennedy!

You're kidding.. fuck lol! i just read todays morning about his debut solo album released in March, listened it over the day and wanted to write a post about it tomorrow :D
And cool you like Crobot! :))

Awesome, I have heard Crobot before but never really had a proper listen, they sound a lot like Australian bands The Redcoats or Mammoth Mammoth both of which have those awesome groove rock feels!

Just listened to Redcoats (Evergreen, Raven,..) and they're really good! But Mammoth Mammoth is not my business, don't like the singers voice :)

Fair enough, mammoth mammoth are that old school pub rock style. pretty different to redcoats

I do like Mammoth Mammoth!

Good post, let us rise together in steemit.

Together we rise - just came in my mind by reading your comment :)

When I first listened to "Something Supernatural's" Crobot album, a couple of years ago, they reminded me Soundgarden. I suppose because those heavy riffs, well those heavy riffs are Black Sabbath's legacy, of course... but the way they played were similar to Soundgarden. After listening more times the album, they came to my mind other bands like Black Stone Cherry or Monster Truck.
By the way, I'll do a post about Monster Truck in the next days, but meanwhile let me share this incredible song in case you don't know the band! Listen to this, @conradt and @twolittlebirds !

Yes there are a lot commonalities but every band has it's own feeling. For example I never was a big fan of Black Sabbath (apart from the classics) or Soundgarden but directly fell in love with Black Stone Cherry and Crobot... and right now I'm falling in love with Monster Truck :D thanks for sharing! will look forward to the post
