Great Metal bands from Germany #1

in music •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemians,

until now i limited our* posts to English singing bands. Now i want to introduce to you some great German singing metal-bands. It's rumored that the German language is very aggressive, so why shouldn't it fit to metal-music although you don't understand anything :D

I would be curious to hear your opinion about the bands. Maybe you already know them? Let me know!

*For those of you who don't know: i'm sharing this account with my girl, so sometimes the posts are from me (Matze) and sometimes written by her. We both love rock/metal music so you probably will not recognize that.

1. Obscurity - death metal/black metal

Bergischer Hammer from 2010

The style of Obscurity is a mix of death metal, black metal and melodic pagan metal. I really love the mix between the deep growls and the screamings. In their texts they sing about battles, mythology and historic stories about Germanic people. If you want to check out their tourdates on their website the button is named "Battles".

2. Equilibrium - melodic pagan metal

Unbesiegt from 2008

To be honest i'm not sure how to name their style. In the early years the music was more diverse within the particuar songs. Like this song above, i love the tune in the background combined with the music and the screaming. Over the years the whole band members changed and so does the music. In my ears the depth of the music is lost. Till the album Erdentempel(2014) it was stil great but the last album Armageddon(2016) is out of my interest. I linked one song for the particular album - check it out and le me know your opinion about the evolution! :)

3. Die Apokalyptischen Reiter - power metal

Es wird schlimmer from 2008

One of the best album releases for me in 2017: Der Rote Reiter from this guys. In English the band name would be "The four horsemen of the Apocalypse". One of the greatest metal bands of the German metal-scene. Their songs are often sociocritical, about life or about freedom and sang in a mix between singing, screaming and spoken parts. I could write so much about them because i love the music and the message behind their songs. It's like they want you to wake up and realize what happens out there.

Refrain:
It gets worse (worse) as it is, but we become better (better)
As the cowardly grey army of tired omnivores
It gets worse (worse) as it is, but we become better (better)
And when the time (the time) arrives, then we'll sharpen our knives!

I hope it's unnecessary to mention that none of the bands i introduce to you are right-wing extremist or sing about Hitler or something like that... You can enjoy the songs without worries that you support Nazis ;)

How do you like them? Did you already know one of them?
If you have any question to other German bands, just let me know.
Would be glad to translate or help you out :)

Stay heavy! \m/

My favourite german metal band is krematory. :)

nice one! yes, great band and great cover :)

obscurity i'm dont understand, but something familiar)))Equilibrium and Die Apokalyptischen Reiter - i know))) good band)))

Yes they are sometimes even hard to understand for me :D

grunz, grunz, grunz (grunt, grunt,grunt)"....Verstand, bergischer Hammer, bergisches Land,.." :D

great bands! what do you think of the "Reiter" after 2008's "Licht" album?

I think the music and especially the sound of the recording changed a little - irgendwie "voller" - aber keine ahnung wie ich das Beschreiben soll :D Bei "Tief. Tiefer" fand ich die Akkustik-CD ziemlich geil, war dafür von der zweiten CD nicht so begeistert... und "Der Rote Reiter" gibt wieder richtig auf die Fresse, wieder richtig gut :) - deine Meinung?

Enjoy the vote and reward!
