Music Community - today I present an established DJane from Berlin / Germany. Ellen Allien is also singing, producing musicians owning an own label called BPitch Control. Her music style is a blend of IDM (Intelligent dance music :-)!) and Techno - so something for Dance Weekend. The post includes some of her own songs, remixes and live performances.
Ellen Allien: Berlin - London - Berlin
Ellen is a pioneer of the European / German electronic music scene that is not that knows as some of her other Berlin based colleagues. Being born in Berlin she came in contact with electronic music in London where she lived for a while. That was in 1989. After returning to Berlin the music was huge there and she became resident DJ at the Bunker, Tresor, and E-Werk - some of the Berlin Techno Party hot spots. See her live:
Fashion Designer and Resident DJ
Nowadays she holds residencies in the clubs Nitsa, Barcelona and the Circoloco at DC10, Ibiza and and is a regular playing in other countries around the globe from Russia to Australia. Being a multi talent that battled her way to become noticed in a still male-dominated space she also "became" a fashion designer creating her own collections. She always was interest in fashion but her love for music won over fashion, after some years in the music business the passion for fashion came up again. Ellen creates clothes that have to be comfortable, sexy and and with an edgy style - but this is not topic of that music post.
