Wieso #24 eigentlich?

Dire Straits for Rock Classics #24

Hi music lovers on Steemit - here comes edition 24 of my Rock Classics with one of the top bands in the 1980ies from the UK. Their relaxed guitar sounds is what I still listen to when I want to calm down a bit. Their album Brothers in Arms was - not only for me - one of the rock history highlights of all times. It was not only sold over 30 million times it was the first music album recorded entirely digitally. This was because Mark was pushing for improved sound quality. Other top stars like Sting also hat there appearance on this masterpiece of music.

About the band

Dire Straits was formed in 1977 my Mark Knopfler, his brother David as well as John Illsley and Pick Withers. Together they became one of the top acts commercially - their first chart breaker was Sultans of Swing in 1978:

They sold over 100 million records during their existence. They split in 1987 - reunited and repeated the scenario as many Rock bands do these days. Mark Knopfler and his guitar skills are outstanding, even maybe Steemians like @steevc are more qualified to judge that. His guitar skills probably more convincing compared to his voice.

I have never been a huge fan of Brothers in Arms to be honest although it was a style departure and the title track is so beautiful and poignant, I hated the poppy sound of Walk of Life in particular but Making Movies and Love over Gold are two of only a handful of full, old style albums I still play. Great post and I always appreciate the many members of the Steem community who post in multiple languages. Cheers :-)

I agree with you Nathen, I also hate "Walk of Life" because of that poppy sound! I love "Making Movies" and "Love Over Gold" but also "Communiqué" as "Once Upon A Time In The West" is one of my fav Dire Straits songs.

love the live version on Alchemy!

Yes, it's a great live version as a starting in Alchemy.

like most of their work, for favourites.. private investigation gold and live versions are something.. alongside telegraph road..

Hi @uwelang
