Journey is one of my favorite bands and two songs in particular moves me greatly, so this day I put two songs in the daily music challenge :) . I have seen them live two times, both with the last singer..goosebumbs the entire show....
Journey has been around already for some time and the past decades they had quiet some struggles to find and keep the lead singer. Origin it was Steve Perry from which people say that he was one of the greatest singers ever, and I agree. The current singer (Arnel Pineda) joined Journey in a special way, a real boy's-dream becomming reality. Arnel is from the Phillipines, his life was hard just to survive. Then he joined a singing contest in his country which was broadcasted on YouTube, and by accident the guitarist of Journey discovered him while he was singing a Journey song. He was overwhelmed by his talent and his voice, so they contacted him and got him over to the States to audition..... the rest is history, he became the new frontman of Journey....And what a revival did that band make....
In this clip of Oprah they tell the story about Arnel joining Journey. I already had very much respect for Arnel, seeing this, it only grows.
Open Arms
The younger people (although that is also some time aga already) know Open arms perhaps from Mariah Carey. But the original is from the great American band Journey. Listen to this version with Arnel Pineda...
Faithfully
Faithfully is my personal favorite, it is an great singline and melody. How the build the energy in the song is just great.
The story of Arnel shows that anything is possible....Keep the faith...

I love Journey! Difficult to choose some songs but maybe my favs are "Lovin' Touchin' Squezin'", "Faithfully" and "Any Way You Want It".
I must say than when I first heard that they invited Ariel Pineda to be the lead singer, I didn't understand why a Steve Perry's clone could be a good choice. After some years I can say that they did the correct choice and Arnel Pineda is a great singer for the band.
I have seen them live only one time and it was something awesome! It was in Madrid in 2007 and they played 27 songs! Was its first time in Spain and it was great. They were happy to be in Spain for first time. Those days Jeff Scott Soto was the lead singer. I liked a lot how he did it, he didn't want to be a Steve Perry's clone and the interpretation was quite good. And the band, what a band! Incredible.

Arnel Pineda has really come on a long journey and his story should motivate us to keep the faith, anything is possible. His voice is so nice and you can hear the emotions in it. I really enjoyed this song. thanks for sharing
