Music is magic, music emotion : Beth Hart

I first go to know the music of Beth Hart when I played in the band JFK. We had a femal vocalist who'm sang a lot of songs from Beth Hart, Sas jordan, Skunk anansie etc. To be honest, before that I never heard of Beth Hart. It was a kind of rocky , bluesy music which I liked a lot...

Soon after I got to know her music I bought the DVD "Beth Hart live in paradiso" , a Dutch venue which is almost world famous :).... I was stunned by her performance, she was cheeky, sexy and with a great voice. At that time things weren't going good with her I read later, she is bipolar and has a history of large drugs and alcohol abuse.... At her worst time she looked like a wreck, you can see this in the clip next.

It is sad to see someone destroying themselve like that.... But history teaches that in the music industry it still happens a lot.... luckily she came out very good, she got her stuff together, she stopped with drugs and alcohol.
She has written a autobiographical song about her past and this song really strikes me in the middle of my heart.... You can feel the pain she must have suffered..

Beth's autobiographical "Leave the light on

Beth is at the moment very succesfull in the Netherlands, every show (in big venues) is instantly sold out. She is more popular in Europe than she is in the states according to her recordlabel.

The last years she cooperated with many artists, but one of the best for me was with Joe Bonamassa, they did some shows together which were a huge succes. The song "I'll take care of you" is by far one of the best ones....

The combination of her voice and the virtuose guitarplay of Joe... wow speechless...

Have a great sunny day

I remember when L.A. Song came out. It was so different from what most other female artists were doing on the radio at that time. Good stuff! I had totally forgotten about Beth Hart until you wrote this. I had to go back and look at her catalog on Spotify. Thanks for sharing!

Yes , she sure is something.... Great artist... Funny fact is that a producer Gordon Groothedde (who lives in my hometown, has produced some songs for Beth. And I can tell you, it's a strange sight seeing Beth on a terras in Zutphen :)

I discovered her around 1996 when she released 'Immortal' as The Beth Hart Band. What a great voice and what a great album!
I didn't like so much her work in mid 00s but when he partnered with Joe Bonamassa I was caught again by her voice. I'm really happy that she has some success, at least in Europe.

I really love the way your posts introduce me to new music, Peter. Thank you. No, have never heard of her. Yes, am off to investigate and listen. Nice post. :)

Me too, I never heard about her, but I watched his video for short. I think she has own interesting style.

Thanks!
