Music is magic, music is emotion: Volbeat 19-11-2019

Yesterday evening I was at the Volbeat gig with my son in Amsterdam. Boy, did we enjoyed our selves....
We thought we would had a problem getting there because the venue (Ziggo Dome Amsterdam) is next to the Ajax stadium (where there was a match of the Dutch national team) and to the Affas Live, a other music theater, were there also a live gig. But lucky us, my wife had got us a parking tickets underneith the Ziggo Dome so it all turned out good.

This time ( we went to Volbeat shows before) we had seats instead of ring tickets, but our places were awesome.
These kind of things, going to a concert for instance, are really precious things to do with my kids, I love it.

When we arrived at Ziggo Danko Jones just started playing. His band consists of only three musicians, but it was just awesome. He has great energy and they had great songs.

After Danko another band "Baroness" started on stage. I've never heard of them before but they were awesome too.

Their style is a metal with guitar added effects (kind a floyd i guess). Their frontman had a lot of energy and it was great to see. Their solo guitarist was awesome, from our distance we couldn't quiet see if it was a man or women, turned out to be a women....With some great guitar skills.

After Baroness finished it was time to set main stage for Volbeat. A big videoscreen was turned above the podium and the lights went down.....

The theme song of the TV serie Peaky Blinders was played (the new album of Volbeat has a theme looking a lot like Peaky Blinders) and Volbeat started playing....

The sound was just awesome and the voice of Michael Poulsen was brilliant. It looked like the guys had really fun on stage.

When they started I looked at my son and seeing him having the time of his life just gave me goosebumbs....He is so crazy about Volbeat... Amazing. He bought a flag of them for in his bedroom :)

Volbeat has the reputation of being a mix between Metallica and Johnny Cash, but they also are awesome in playing the real deal Rock and Roll. During the gig a sax player and pianist came out of the main stage while playing some good old rock and roll. The crowd went nuts..

Michael Poulsen has lost his father quiet young, he had written a song in honour of his memory. The song is called "Fallen".. before he started playing it he asked the crowd to bring out their phone and turn on the light...the sight was magnificient...

The played for two hours straight and every song was spot on. They played a lot of old stuff as well as new songs from their new album.... At the end multiple Confetti Cannon's turned the Ziggo Dome into a snow landscape... Brilliant (unless you have to clean it of course).

After the show we went to the car and I received a Facebook message. It was from the Volbeat event at Facebook. The published a playlist in Spotify with the setlist of the gig in Ziggo Dome... (smart commercial ;) ) , so driving home we listened to the set again... Now I have to face the consequenses of only been sleeping for three hours :P but it was worth it...

Have a great day, I will have a tired one I think....

Ohhh wow! I love Peaky Blinders and that song you recognize from the first second. Lovely :D Glad you had such a great time!

It was just awesome.... And Peaky blinders rules :)

Okay, I promise, today is the day I am going to finally listen to some Volbeat and add them to one of my playlists. I know I have said that before, but it is really going to happen today. I just found out yesterday that Motley Crue, Deff Leppard, and Poison are going to tour together on a huge stadium tour. I am totally going to that!

Wow, that's cool.... Mid eigthies rockbands.... Did you see the Motley Crue docu on Netflix.... Brilljant..

Yeah, it was fantastic. My friend has the soundtrack on vinyl. He brought it over one night and we drank a whole bottle of whiskey while listening to it on my record player.
