Good morning, everyone! Today's personal musical mood of the day is connected with the English progressive rock band Yes. Those of you who are really into rock music in general (and even specifically into prog rock) couldn't have certainly missed it.
Yes was formed in London back in 1968 and was as such one of the most earliest progressive rock bands to surface in England and worldwide. Centered around frontman Jon Anderson throughout the 1970s, the band has been critically acclaimed and managed to achieve commercial success as well. To date, their extensive discography consists of no less than 21 solo studio albums and 18 live ones.
They've firstly charted big in the U.K. and the Netherlands with their fourth studio album released in 1971 and titled 'Fragile'. The following year, the band released a three-track LP called 'Close to the Edge', which managed to enter the German charts too. However, their mainstream commercial success broke through in 1983 along with '90125', the studio record which placed the group on the 5th position on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States of America. Off this album, the band issued 4 singles, out of which two are the remarkable 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' and 'Leave It'.
Below you can listen to a selection of some of their most popular songs:
My MAN!!! I love Yes. Heart of the Sunrise off of their Fragile album is one of my favorite songs... ever. Both of the basslines in that song are legendary, as are many off of Fragile. Thanks for the reminder of this awesome band!
