Top 10 music videos on YouTube in 2017

As a part of YouTube Rewind 2017, YouTube has released a list of top trending videos of 2017 along with the year’s top 10 music videos. “Despacito” rules the list of the most-watched music videos of the year, as it has become a powerhouse, unlike anything the platform has ever seen. For nearly five years, the YouTube record for the most-viewed video was held by South Korea’s Psy for “Gangnam Style.” This year, Psy was unseated: first by Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth in July, and then the following month by Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” featuring Daddy Yankee (not the version with Justin Bieber), which now sits atop the rankings with over 4.4 billion views – and counting.

It is worth noting that six of the top 10 music videos of 2017 are Spanish songs. This shows that Latin music is loved all across the globe and it’s YouTube that they turn to in order to listen to the music they love. The other slots on the list are filled by major pop hits released by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Jason Derulo, and even DJ Khaled.
