Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Another Brick in The Wall? vintage rock music lovers may already be familiar with the songs of this band. But before I wanted to tell you about Pink Floyd, in short as a child I was injected by the father with his favorite songs. At that time almost every day the father play DVD rock songs like Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and others. But most often of course Pink Floyd. Well since then I'm used to listening to songs from this band. Moreover, my favorite time is Another Brick in The Wall where there is a sequence sung by children's choir whose lyrics "We do not need no education
We do not need no thought control "and I joined in as though joining in the choir group. Ha ha ha. Ah it's bring back the memory again!
Back to Pink Floyd, the London band was formed by Roger Waters (bassist), Nick Masson (drummer), with Richard Wright (keyboard) and Syd Barrett (Guitar, Vocal). Pink Floyd, who initially played in music clubs, attracted the attention of mainstream music fans at that time who in fact was dominated by pop and rock music such as The Beatles, The Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, The Animals and others. Until finally in 1967 Pink Floyd (who had previously changed names) entered into a contract agreement with an EMI record label. The music that the band brought was far from the mainstream category, the band was more experimental rock / psychedelic rock (can googling itself hehe) instead of following the pop and rock market at the time. With the complexity of the song, and the unusual tone changes, Pink Floyd music is getting more and more acceptable and has a huge fanbase up to now.

****The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Syd Barrett, and Schizophrenia****

After contracting with a record label, the band released their first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Noisy, Dark, and trippy. This is probably the word I think I can define when I hear the album being produced at Abbey Road and along with the production of The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper and Lonely Heart Club Band. Astronomy Domine, Interstellar Overdrive, Matilda Mother, Flaming and 7 other songs are very different from the songs that year again popular (pop and rock). Different in the sense that the addition of unusual voices is heard in a song like a roar, the sound of people chatting, the effects of the 'weird' synth and other coupled with friction guitar playing from syd barrett is very brutal as if not synced with other instruments. The irregularity that became such a harmony became one of the band's best works. No doubt it takes 'more' time to hear and get 'comfort' to hear this album.

Yes once Syd Barrett had said these songs were deliberately made by for people who again giting using LSD which at that time became a trend among young people (Flower Power and Hippies) and invited to join the flow of this song. But that does not mean I recommend you to also enjoy this song while high HAHA. Syd Barrett is indeed a genius he created almost the entire song on this album. Increasingly this album's performance has decreased as well as Syd's performance, almost every concert Syd uses LSD with gawking eyes, and hands that do not play the guitar. But the audience is still cool to watch the concert. Yes maybe because the drug is affected too. ha ha ha ha

And finally Syd that can not be controlled again, 3 other band members decided to invite David Gilmour who is a friend of Syd Barrett during college. David Gilmour was invited to back up Pink Floyd every concert where Syd Barret's circumstances every gig was in control and dampened on his own LSD trip. And ultimately suffering from schizophrenia disease.

****David Gilmour Era, Dark Side of The Moon, and Division****

On his tour of the Southampthon area, the four band members Waters, Gilmour, Wright, and Mason had a discussion to pick up Syd Barrett but they finally canceled and toured by leaving Syd, And the peak of 1968 March Syd came out of Pink Floyd then pointed Gilmour as Syd's successor. It's an irony indeed, the genius who created the first great album, finally dumped with consideration syd can not be controlled again. But on the one hand it's possible if Gilmour does not become a Pink Floyd member maybe epic songs like Comfortably Numb, Money, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, and others will not be born.

After settling down with Gilmour as a new guitarist, Pink Floyd released several albums. A Saucerful of Secrets (1968-1 song created by Syd while still with Floyd), More (1969 - Soundtrack Album), Ummagumma (1969), Atom Heart Mother (1970), Meddle (1971). On the Meddle album, the music from Pink Floyd changed drastically, where in previous albums played experimental music a la Syd Barrett. On the album Meddle, Floyd is more towards Progressive Rock and more harmoniously between the instruments with each other and also by taking a tone that 'more can be heard by music lovers, this is also due to David Gilmour who may be in my opinion have been separated from the shadow of Syd on at that time and dared to remove his own character of a more smooth sound, compared with the character of Syd's guitar sound 'rough and noisy'. Pink Floyd continued his work again after Meddle with the album Obscure By Clouds (1972), Dark Side of The Moon (1973) and 7 other albums.

Dark Side of The Moon in my opinion is the culmination of this London band's career. How did not this album be number one on the Billboard chart at that time for a week and the rest stay on the chart for 15 Years! The long-lasting album is a genius album. Clear! This album is the maximum creativity of 4 personnel of this band, I think this album is not just as a music album, but more. One of Spectacular artworks ever made by humans besides the work of Mozart, Bach or other maestros. Sound excessive? Not really, when listening to this album we seem to be invited to enter follow the journey of the song. The theme of the song about money and music industry, about time, about mental illness suffered by Syd Barrett is the climax of the whole album they produce. Soul, passionate, atmospheric these four personnel to create this album is amazing. Coupled with the total instrument processing in every song makes the whole album into an epic. A rocket that invites us to explore outer space with the extraterrestrial sounds of Wright's synth game, guitar solo from Gilmour plus a gentle bassline from Waters and a soulful thump from Mason, Yap Rocket is named Dark Side of The Moon.

2 Years after the release of the dark side album, Pink Floyd (back) swapped the epic album. Wish You Were Here (1975). According to Gilmour and Wright, this album is the best album they ever made. Based on Roger Waters' longing with his old friend Syd. This album contains 5 songs and the overall song is extraordinary. Where the song Shine On You Crazy Diamond (tells of the power and fall of syd) became one of the greatest works ever made with the theme still taking 'space travel'. The guitar solo and synth game is the most prominent in this song. There was an interesting story during the album's production sessions, where Syd Barrett once came to the studio, but all the personnel barely recognized him because Syd's physical condition was overweight, with his eyebrows and hair cut off. But in the end the personnel recognize it and the atmosphere becomes blue. The band's personnel also invited Syd to hear Shine On's song dedicated to him, but Syd responded coldly. Until in the end they split up again and none of the members who had met with Syd, Until got word of his death the maestro in 2006.

2 epic albums that made Pink Floyd make his name even bigger in the music industry did not make the band stop working after Wish You Were Here, the next album was Animal (1977), The Wall (1979), The Final Cut (1983), A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and Bell Division (1994). Since the Animal album (taking up the theme of the Waters family) the split is seen from the authoritarian start of a Roger Waters who created the entire song himself, outside of the three band members. after it was like a snowball effect, the bigger conflict occurred in the cultivation of The Wall album (which actually exploded in the market), where Waters was still dominant in creating the song, Gilmour who refused to play in several songs while performing live, until Wright was removed from the band because cracked his relationship with Roger Waters. Conflict also occurred in Gilmour and Waters who during the making of The Final Cut Gilmour refused to come to get a new idea. But Waters insisted on making the album and The Final Cut got the lowest sales from previous albums. Gilmour and Waters crackdown eventually went to court where Gilmour won the rights to his work during Pink Floyd and used the name during the concert, for Waters himself finally got the rights to his work on The Wall album and the character from The Wall film which was also produced until finally Waters decided to leave the band in 1985.

Gilmour and Mason Finally continued Pink Floyd with the release of A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987), and Wright's comeback to the release of Division Bell (1994). This album is their last album after Division Bell tour.

****The Endless River and the end of the trip.****

After the death of Richard Wright in 2008 and 10 years after Pink Floyd's last tour, Gilmour invited Mason to review the previously unused song material on The Division Bell's last album. Gilmour invites several musicians to complete his desire to create a tribute album for Richard Wright. And in the end The Endless River was released in 2014 yesterday. The release of this album received a fairly positive response for the connoisseurs and web music. This album is different from before where almost all the songs are instrumental and only one song that contains vocals and also become single, Louder than Words. For me personally, I like this album, approaching new age music or world music but still with Pink Floyd taste and highly recommended to listen using headphones or full volume speakers because each instrument in this song is created as comfortable as possible for listeners with emotional and passion from a Wright plus a magical touch from Gilmour and Mason. Allowing listeners to explore their ego and mood. Gilmour stated that this album is the end of Pink Floyd's long journey, and in my opinion is a very good cover album. From the noisy and fiery sound of a group of young Londoners in the Syd era, until it was closed by an emotional album that could make a demanding return to the band's long journey. The journey from the deep dark seas, gliding with rockets enjoying the journey of space, and finally resting immortally.
