[7.1ch] Woody - The Kuiper Belt / To Boldly Go... (Holst Impro + Star Trek = The Nexus Medley)steemCreated with Sketch.

in music •  6 years ago

It was about two years ago, when Leo Christopherson unwillingly turned me into an addict to Gustav Holst's "Planets Suite" with his rearranged CODM version. Since then, I always felt urged somehow to not let Neptune be the last piece of the suite. But after Pluto was deprived of its status as a regular planet, something else had to jump in...

The news of the space probe "New Horizons" approaching a Kuiper object named "Ultima Thule" up to a distance of about 3,500 kilometers (~ 2,175 miles) on Dec 31st 2018 came in right on time to tell me what could be an adequate enhancement to the suite: The Kuiper Belt!

With these pictures in mind, the improvisation lifted off in a style that tries to imitate Holst's one from The Planets Suite, but after a while was captured by memorized fragments of Dennis McCarthy's OST from the "Star Trek: Generations" movie. Of course, the Alexander Courage fanfare eventually had to make its appearance to conclude a piece that dares to go where no organist has gone before... ;-)

Enjoy the video trip through our galaxy!

Current versions of Media Player Classic are able to properly play multi-channel FLAC files.
Like all my other recordings, the music is completely improvised, so there is no sheet music available.

As far as I understood the rules, it is not forbidden to re-post own content from other platforms (such as YouTube), be it as a teaser, announcement or similar. If that DOES break a rule, I'd be happy to get the details since it would mean that Steemit is not the community I was looking for.

Thank you very much in advance for some guidance/clarification.
