Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)

in musicmonday •  6 years ago  (edited)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Hey I hope everyone has enjoyed a great weekend! My choice this week is a bit more laid back and it's one that for me is the epitome and essence of young love .. an ethereal yet palpable beauty that speaks to its intoxicating power and fragility .. I hope you enjoy.

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

Ok I’ll play. I found you via @jakeybrown (my son). I love music and often post on my blog about it
Here’s a song perfect for Monday, Angel City with Face The Day, which was covered by Great White. The Angels, an Aussie band released this (and write it) in1980 but it received much more air play when Great White released it later in the late 1980’s. The Angels apparently changed their name to Angel City later

Thats amazing, I was thinking of posting an Angels song and this is one of my favorites by them. In Australia here they are The Angels, they had to change it to Angel City in USA only as there was already a band with the same name. Still going although Doc the singer died.

Funny, I had this album, I bought it in the 1980s when I lived in California. Great music. Not sure why this song sprang to mind yesterday but it is a good one. I always liked this version better than Great Whites.

A big welcome to you @bigskycustoms .. your son is a lovely man .. you've done well :) Love this track and I haven't heard these guys before so it's a great introduction for me. I shall have to delve into their back catalogue for some more songs of this quality, sorry I didn't catch this last night but I've been ill and had an earlier night than usual. Thank you for the music my friend .. another worthy addition to my playlist!

I a big music lover so was great to see you Music Monday blog. I will try to catch it every Monday. Yes, Jake is a good son. According to @izzynoel they are still around. Interesting note about the bands name in his comment.

Ah there it is! And now for something completely different.

2 completely different worlds collide in this brilliant mashup I have been saving in a tab since last week. Unbelievable how well it works.

So romantic.

Ha that there my friend is an editing masterclass .. who'd have thought it, what mind would fuse these polar opposites together? And yet somehow .. it works!! That's what I love about #musicmonday I never I know what I'm going to get next and this is a curve-ball with some serious velocity :) Thank you for the music @zekepickleman

I love mashups. Not seen this one before. Should have more Slayer in it haha. My fave is Gay Bar vs Paranoid.

Here is my own track, released a few years ago.. fairie music;)

Thanks for sharing your music @perceptualflaws. super chill moonday vibes !

Hey @wallpaperflower you're very talented .. I love this hauntingly beautiful fairie music, reminds me of time well spent in the chill out tent at Portugal's Boom festival a few years back :) I love the other worldly quality of this quality composition. Excellent stuff .. huge respect for your talent .. thank you for sharing!!

Thanks @perceptualflaws . Your words are deeply appreciated & make my heart smile to keep on & on & on ..

I could not resist lol

Haha No more need for dreaming .. because you'd have to be in a coma to believe it lol Can't believe how young Baddiel and Skinner look .. I think all these years of waiting have taken their toll lol I have some funny memories tied up in this track and I haven't heard it in years so I really enjoyed listening to it! Thank you for the music @deliberator

Welcome bro, and I thought exactly the same when I looked at the pair of them, they looked so young, only 20 years ago this year, to much cocaine? who knows.

Is there more piss takes on the English team been done? In the video the ending is well worth waiting for the World Cup and holding it up.

lol that was not even a piss take, it was a serious attempt to raise morale, it did not work though, we know our national team is crap anyway. :-)

Xavier Rudd - Spirit Bird (live)

Hey my friend, this really is a beautiful song and I've never heard it performed in such an intimate setting before. It's beautiful yet powerful, strong yet meek (a balancing act of epic proportions) a power to move you and a power that demands we change the status quo. Thank you for the music @neo-wiza I really enjoyed this one!

Don't know why, but I had feeling you gonna like it :)

I was going to put Xavier's Bow Down up this week but one XR is enough. He lives near me so see him alot when he is off tour which isn't alot.

Where he live?

Love this acoustic version of spirit bird! Great playlist here in musicmonday :)

He played it with touch of soul, that is why I love it.

Listening to your song reminded me of this good song by the band Muse

Hey @cmplxty what a beautiful track eh? These guys grew up not too far from me .. I've seen them a few times live (the last time in the video I've attached above) and they are honestly one of the best live bands I've ever seen! I love the restrained power of this track .. it's awesome! Thank you for the music my friend, I really enjoyed listening to this one!!

I really felt bad for you the other day, with your tooth ache and all, I really did. But since that's all over now (?), I thought I would remind you of the pain again:) So here it is, The Drill.

Ha thanks my friend, I'm still not great but much better than I was and at least the painkillers are working! .. I have to go back for root canal surgery pretty soon. But enough about me, this is a great track! I love a bit of the old dance stuff! :) And this was a great way to put a spring in my step this morning! Another brilliant choice my friend .. thank you for the music!!

Bez says it's time to dance!

Ha this is a classic! I think (from memory) this was from when they were banned from recording as the Happy Mondays and so started Black Grape. Luckily they're now back recording and touring and I managed to catch them a couple of years back. At Glastonbury, they've given Bez his own club called Bez's acid house, it's a good night out! lol Brilliant choice of track and thank you for inspiring a trip down memory lane. Excellent stuff @sequentialvibe

A song about the love of a simple journalist from the 20th century and a princess from the 8th century. From the movie "June 31". The date which happens only once in 1000 years by old calendars. Date when time travel is possible.

Hey my friend, sorry the 2nd song wouldn't play but I enjoyed the first one!! Obviously I don't know what they're singing about .. but the music speaks for itself .. reminds of a slightly chilled Gogol Bordello. Thank you for the music my friend .. I enjoyed this one!

Love song. Her knight is in the 20th century. The princess sings that different dimensions, space and time itself can not be an obstacle. Then the musical develops, the battle with the dragon.
History even touches an evil sorcerer and intriguer. He sided with the lovers. They begin to live together in the 20th century. Only their adventures are remembered as a funny dream. They do not believe in their reality. This rule of this magical story.

I quite like the girls voice in "Draw Your Swords". Not heard of them before but I do like and intend to see if they got more of this quality. A haunting song/melody. Excellent choice and... success. I discovered new music I usually wounldnt find.

My selection is an Aussie band I used to go see alot back in the day. A cover of a PIL song "Open Up" ala "Burn Hollywood Burn".

Hey brilliant choice here @izzynoel and I haven't heard this cover before .. great stuff! Great energy and vibe .. I like! In terms of Angus and Julia Stone they're an Australian duo that record together and also have solo careers .. Angus also fronts Dope Lemon. I've attached a couple of other tracks above. Excellent choice of music this week my friend .. I really enjoyed this!

lovely

Thank you @perceptualflaws I love these songs, especially Crash & Burn. I intend to get a CD or two for when I am in my mellow moments. Simple songs yet very effective and catchy. Thank you for showing me new music from my own country. I did some research and they have been out for over 10 years! Well my excuse is I wasn't in the country their first 7 years and I am out of touch of what is "hip" nowadays.

Cog do a great cover. Tidbit - the singer and bass player are brothers and half aboriginal. The drummer is my fave drummer of all time.

Just made it in time haha! Here's my pick for the week:
Siouxsie and the Banshees- Arabian Knights

Hey sorry my friend but i must have missed this the other day! I love a bit of Siouxsie @ the Banshees and this is a great track!! Really takes me back to my childhood with my parents blaring this out .. happy days :) Wasn't she a fan of the Sex Pistols that got pulled out of the crowd and went on to have a recording career, I think she kind of fell into it .. I shall have to check. Thank you for the music my friend!!

Ha and now for something completely different! Sorry it's taken me a little while to be able to sit down and listen to it in it's entirety .. some great tracks on here my friend, some really uplifting stuff! Thank you for the music @hrissm

Glad you enjoyed! This is one of my go-to background, zone out, focus music. It's a very versatile genre and style, once the heart/meat of the track actually begins.
