Music Monday (feel free to add your own tracks)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture its true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Hope everyone is well and has enjoyed a really good week? I've just got in and my yawns have prompted a rock-infused wake up call for this week's edition of #musicmonday. I have yet to catch this band, but I'm reliably informed they're a top live act and thus they are definitely on the radar! Perhaps I'll find them amongst the mud and rain at a festival this summer .. stranger things have happened! :) Anyway, I'm running late so let's see what you think. I hope you enjoy.

Ah Monday again!!

I have been thinking about one of my favourite bands of all time lately. Fair No More is touring again this year and hitting close to here. They were so rockin, weird, progressive and aggressive. This song is an older one but I love how it crosses lines and doesn’t really fit into a category.

WE CARE A LOT!

Ha yes I remember Faith No More and this track, I didn't realise they were still going .. bet they put on a great live show! One of those bands who I always forget what tracks they've done, then I'm pleasantly reminded .. like now. lol They certainly held their own sound, never quite knew where they were going to go next. Might have to see if they're coming to the UK. ;) Thank you for the music my friend .. enjoyed this trip down memory lane! :)

If I am too late, just ignore. Mondays are jinxed for some reason ;)

Hey @ricia hope you've been well, no worries this often kind often runs over a few days so I take it as it comes! lol And man, what a track! What can you say that hasn't already been said before lol But for me it's one of those tracks that defines an era and captures a moment in time that's now lost to the mists of time, unless you have youtube and/or a good memory! lol. Great choice my friend and thank you for the music .. really enjoyed hearing this one.

Great video pick this week, I really enjoyed that video. Come April, if he overcomes his pneumonia as I hear he had to delay some concerts the other day, I will finally go see Elton John. This is his last tour so it was finally time to stop procrastinating to getting around to it some day.

I could have picked from a host of favorite songs I have of his over the decades, I am sure once a few of those are played live in person the emotions are going to find a connection so surreal I won't be able to control a few steams of tear of joy for the experience of witnessing them live. Few artist ever connect with one's emotional journey through life experiences for decades and he surely is one of them. The following song seemed fitting for me this week as I had gone down to a meeting held at a neighborhood organization office in our city's heartside district which houses a lot of low income and homeless people, they were going to have a representative there to talk with people who may be interested in working for the government doing the census.

Upon entering I was greeted with a warm welcome and to grab a bite to eat off the buffet they had set up or help myself to a cooler full of beverages or coffee. Seems it wasn't just the monthly neighborhood meetings it was the monthly meeting plus pot luck. I must admit our city has it's share of homeless people but they sure are a spoiled bunch of homeless people as the resources and access to food and warm meals are abundant to them everywhere you go. As I looked over the crowd I recognized a few faces I have met in my lifetime at some point somewhere, these obviously were some that just didn't make it and when some of them spoke it was evident they had suffered severe set backs somewhere along the way. There was one lady in particular whom I just couldn't place, she must have been wondering the same thing as about half an hour into it all she comes over and says is your name, and she says my name and I reply yes. She says I have prayed for you my whole life and she walks away. As I sat there I was like well that couldn't have been a good experience if she felt the need to be praying for me. She comes back through, stops and I ask her name, she says it's me Dawnie, you know, big reds Dawnie. That threw me for a loop, she could have given me a thousand guesses and I'd missed every time. I said big hefty tall dude with red hair that lived down on Coldbrook and she replied yes. At that point I knew I was safe as it was always her that had a problem not me, her husband sold weed and anytime some girl showed up to buy a bag they were all suspect in wanting her man. I even made a point to reiterate that to her by saying you were the tiny blonde who always thought someone was out to steal her man and she giggled shaking her head yes. Now here was Ms. Popular Cute beaten down shaking from a long hard lived life of alcohol and drugs...and through out my life she wouldn't be the only one I'd run across that someone could have given me a thousand guesses and I'd miss each time so a song about urban living with the words "And I thank the Lord for the people I have found
I thank the Lord for the people I have found" ring very true and deep for me this week, without them who knows where I have may ended up, this is a tribute to all those who held onto me by a string in my life.

Hey @sunlit I've seen Elton John once, he played down on Brighton cricket pavillion and my friend had a house on the third floor (complete with balcony) that looked directly out onto it, thus we got one of the best views and a free show! Great music, sun shining few drinks .= great day! :D

Thank you for sharing you story .. it's amazing, this journey of life, the way we find ourselves randomly intertwined with people .. ,the conscious (and subconcsious) memories or indeed life lessons they inspire. Like yourself, I'm certainly grateful for the people I've found along my way .. for better and worse, if you find a way to listen, most have a lesson to teach. Thanks for the music my friend.

Hello my friend. I just wanted to drop by and enjoy listening to your cool selection for this #musicmonday:)

Since I'm here I'll leave you with an interesting cover song which made me chuckle:) enjoy!

Ha yes that's certainly not something you'll see every day lol They definitely seem to be getting into it, owning the moment. lol You're right, it does make me chuckle .. and that is never a bad thing! lol I keep on expecting it to turn into the Full Monty. Thanks for the music and the laughs dude! :D

Ouch, that hurt me ears:)
Here's something little more mellow.

Ouch, that hurt me ears:)

A bass bin veteran like yourself? I'm sure you have ears of steel! :D Actually, lots of friends have come down with tinnitus so I'm now taking extra care of mine! lol This track certainly helped on that front, like soft musical velvet .. very beautiful, calm and serene! A great contrast to my assault on the senses! This one is going stright into my writing inspiration playlist .. come the weekend I'll be gazing out through rain spattered window, lost in a whirlwind of deep thought and contemplation with this track gently gently whispering into my ageing ears! :D Thank you and thanks for the music @deirdyweirdy .. Oh and I think we will be moving to a #musicmonday community that @sequentialvibe has kindly created to carry our weekly soundscapes (plus I think other music) .. I'll look into how all that works and try and get up to speed for next week!

Love Christy Moore. Great choice :)

Hey @sequentialvibe .. hope you've been well .. not heard this one before .. but I'm appreciating this electro fuelled blast from the past! There was the golden age of electro music, the experimental phase where you never really knew where they would go with it next .. relative synth simplicity inspiring new frontiers of creativity. Thank you for the music my friend!! :)
