Music Monday (Add your own music)

in musicmonday •  7 years ago

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Hey I hope everyone has enjoyed a good weekend! Firstly, apologies if I've missed any messages in the last week or so, I have a mountain of work to do and I'm working to a tight deadline so it's it's been difficult to get online. Equally I will as usual listen to, upvote and comment on all songs, it just may take me a little longer. My choice this week is a musical odyssey by the Racontuers, I've often thought this would make a brilliant movie soundtrack! In short, it's as cool as fuck!! I hope you enjoy.

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

Morning Dude,
After a beautiful drive to work with the most spectacular sunrise I've decided to go back to where we started on your very first Music Monday.
Einaudli!
This is a live performance in the Old Vic Tunnels.
Ludovico Einaudi - Le Onde.

Beautiful!

Simply beautiful @tremendospercy, his music just takes me away and leaves me floating on a sea of hopes and dreams. I'm so glad you introduced me, in the months that have since passed I can't tell you how much it's helped me both write and formulate ideas. Another fantastic choice my friend.

You're welcome buddy.
His music is indeed magical. I have spent many, many hours with Einaudi on the headphones just staring into space. Time seems to just disappear when I listen to his work.

@perceptualflaws I was looking forward to this post today. I am digging the sounds of the song you posted. Here is a painting I did with a cool song I like.

@unityeagle thank you for introducing me to this post.

Hey my friend, thank you I'm really glad you liked my choice this week. Yours was excellent on both counts! Love the track and equally loving the painting! You're very talented, thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I have started a new playlist to save videos from this post into. I am enjoying the music.

As I mentioned before, I LOVE your art @allowisticartist <3<3

Thank you @amymya I was inspired to create today and so I gave Dlive a try and it was a lot of fun. I recorded my screen as I worked in Photoshop doing a vehicle wrap and then I spent some time painting in photoshop. I uploaded the vid to my Dtube channel and my blog is over flowing with my work today lol. Thanks for the support I really appreciate it and it is the best payment an Artist can get next to an upvote that is :)

I want to show you all two different artists. I don't what time it is right now for you, dear listener, but Train People by Sophie Hunger always gives me a melancholic, dreamy feeling for late evenings:

Two other songs by Sophie Hunger worth listening are Your Personal Religion:

and 1983 (even if the lyrics are German you might like it's rythm and melody :)):

Sorry, but I couldn't find better quality :/

Last one for today to start into the week smoothly is Little Dragon with Peace Of Mind feat. Faith Evan:

Hope you like my selection for this monday.
PS: Would be cool to start a thread like this for Friday too, since (at least for me) Friday and Monday feelings are quite different :P

Hey @hashkeks, sorry for the late reply it's been a non-stop few days for me so time has been of a premium. That said I've really enjoyed taking the weight of my feet and finding some time to listen to your choices. I listened to Sophie Hunger last night and it was the perfect way to unwind, she really has a beautifully ethereal (like you say) dreamlike voice .. excellent choices. Equally loving the funky basslines of Little Dragon .. perfect music to chill to .. thank you for the music!

No problem :) I hope the upcoming days will be calmer for you and I'm very glad you enjoyed my choices. Since I was looking forward to this post I was kind of afraid I couldn't join you guys here because of my very low bandwidth yesterday, so I took the chance to listen and comment everything when I got some kB of bandwidth. I also really enjoyed The Raconteurs. It gives me those kind of ironic but powerful vibes like 'Let's get it done, can't get worse!' if you know what I mean. Perfect for an annoying and sleepy Monday, so thank you for the music ;D

Awesome Pick. Here's my addition, some space waves exotica :)

That's a very nice piece of music you got there. My first thought was that it's a retro version of Yeasayer :P Perfect sound to relief in the middle of the day and prepare for the afternoon. I think I have something to listen to for this week. Thank you! ( ՞ ᗜ ՞ )

love the retro feel of this song. Would be a perfect song to play in the Allowistic love bus.

@unityeagle can you see us cruising the bus down the coast listening to this song wind blowing in our hair.

Oh yes I see it very clearly we gonna have so much FUN and how knows maybe we make our own music

oh yeah Fun music making for sure :)

Wow! I love this one - VERY original with some really interesting and unusual harmonies. Kind of retro influences, yet completely unique.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed @soundwavesphoton ... I'm loving your choice this week, very cool!! Some really nice retro vibes going on here, difficult to put it into a particular genre and from me that's high praise! Great choice my friend!!

My account has been frozen since yesterday:(
Best not make too many comments as my bandwidth is f____d! Loved the voice in your choice. Decided to go rock this week. So here is Man, a favourite with my friends back in the day, but very underrated generally.

Excellent choice @ricia I'm loving the guitar work on this it's just so relentless!! This really put a spring in my step and had me reaching for the air guitar! They don't make them this anymore eh my friend? Thank you for the music.

Yeah, they were a very tight band from Wales. The drummer went on to play with Dire Straits and sadly two of them are already dead.

Have you ever heard of a band called Atomic Rooster? If not they're also well worth a listen :)

Oh yes, but they made it quite big - devils answer etc. Man never had that kind of success. A band I loved and watched most Saturdays for a while were Glagow band scheme. Listen to self destruct on YouTube. They were lovely guys too and again two are dead. Sad, cause not that old for nowadays.

Yes they did, but the thing that reminded me was the fact that all members of the band died really young .. some tragic circumstances as well I think :( .. I will be sure to give Glagow a listen, unless you want to share next week ;)

No, go ahead and listen, I struggle to pick just one anyway:)
I didn't remember they all died, must look it up. Their line up changed a fair bit and I wouln't be surprised if they'd got caught up in the whole mk ultra stuff that sucked in so many bands then. Neil Sanders wrote a book about it!

Yes Neil Sanders is excellent, I'm looking forward to his Manson family book. I think it was the three original members and I think they all committed suicide .. I will also have to look it up.

Now in my younger days I used to sport a sag...

Hey my friend, great choice I love the Pharcyde!! .. so many memories wrapped up in these albums! I was only listening to their track "I smoke" a couple of days back! Excellent, thank you for the music @patriciorayaz I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

Thanks brother!! The Pharcyde is dope... takes me back to high school! :)

I was looking forward to this all day believe it or not, this song has also been stuck in my head all day, headphones required, my Hero Roger Waters.

Take it easy, life is for living, not for work.

Excellent my friend, believe it or not, I almost picked a Floyd track this week! I love Roger Walters such a multi-layered depth of writing and meaning, a true visionary. Love the Hal sample on this one :D Great choice @deliberator .. on the work front, I know and it's dragging me down .. need to try and find a way to make a living doing what I love .. writing :D Thanks for the music!

Just a thought, that must have crossed your mind also. Would putting out 1 of your excellent articles a day, on here not suffice?. Have a great week my friend.

This choice may not bring you out of the blues... But I had to share it. I stumbled upon an old mixed cd from over a decade ago and decided to listen to it today. This music brings me back to a time in my life very different from now. First love, teenage angst, all of that good stuff, haha. This song is SO BEAUTIFUL to me still, and the feelings stirred up so intense I was almost brought to tears.
I hope you can hear the emotion in this song and share that with me for a few minutes.
Until next week,
<3 @amymya

Hey @amymya Thank you for sharing this powerful track, the beginning reminded me a little of Portishead .. but then it took a great but unexpected turn, I love music that keeps me guessing! Never quite knowing where it's going to go next. It's amazing how certain songs can trigger such emotion and bring the memories flooding back. Thank you for the music .. I really enjoyed this and I'm looking foward to your choice next week!!

I love that Raconteurs track. Quite an unusual mix of styles with almost reggae undertones as well as those Mexican horns!
I've chosen this track from the Manic Street Preachers just because I love it. Motorcycle Emptiness. The soaring electric guitars and vocals evoke a really nice time in my life too, when I was doing a lot of travelling.

The sound of the electric guitars are just ageless. Good for us because this whole "era" of music has this certain cozy sound I can't find in today's music :D

Hey my friend I'm glad you enjoyed!! This is a great track, I've been lucky enough to catch these guys live a couple of times and they're excellent!! Thank you for sharing .. I really enjoyed your inspired choice this week!

Peace to you my friend

Hey my friend, as always an inspired choice .. I never know what direction your music will take and I really like that. I loved the easy going atmosphere of this song, it just takes the stresses of the day away and leaves you with a big smile painted on your face :D Thank you for the music @onetruebrother

For some reason I love this song

Hey my friend, I can imagine sitting in a smoky old, scotch on the rocs and Bill playing this on the piano .. what a great eening that would be eh? :) Thank you for sharing, this was a perfect song to unwind to tonight and I really enjoyed it! Oh I couldn't get the link to work here, but I nipped over to youtube and listened there. Great choice @jakeybrown

It's one I keep coming back to, glad you enjoyed it :)

This is my pick for this week
The Mars Volta - Asilos Magdalena
I really love the last two minutes or so.

He @fadedhistory Great choice my friend!! For some reason it wouldn't play on here but no worries I nipped over to youtube and listened there. Loving the sounds you've chosen here and you're so right that guitar really comes alive towards the end!! Excellent, thank you for sharing!!

You're welcome! Thanks for posting The Raconteurs, it's been a while since I've listened to their music!

I think, we need an energic music to start the week forward. And would be fun if we remember a little bit of sweet memories through the beat of music and lyrics that were once popular when we were young and powerful. So, for that reasons I choose Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera's song, "Moves Like Jagger". Have a nice week everyone!

Hey, a great choice my friend .. it definitely woke me up and shook away the cobwebs :) Which is definitely what I needed after a long day at work! Thank you for the music @rial17

Yapp! U're always welcome my friend @perceptualflaws
