7-Day Wayback Music Challenge: Day 2 - This is the time

1998 was the second time I went to the Wacken Open Air in Germany, one of the biggest Heavy Metal festivals in the world. We were a big group of friends and we had the time of our lives (some beer might also be involved...). I had heard of this band called Savatage before and they were always praised in the magazines. They were headlining the main stage on Saturday (after Blind Guardian :)), so I went to check them out and was completely blown away. Awesome musicians, and even more important: awesome songs (here is the setlist )
After their last song ("This is the time" from Dead Winter Dead, a great concept album about the civil war in Sarajevo), I went back to the camping ground completely speechless. I met a friend who also checked them out and we just set there in silence for a while. We knew that we just became witness to one of the best concerts ever. Magazines later entitled this concert with "Savatage - when men cry" and they were right :D
So that was the starting point where I became a huge fan of this band. Unfortunately, they did not last long in this constellation and transformed later into Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

This is my second entry for the #MusicWaybackChallenge.
Thanks for the nomination @anibas!

The rules:

Choose one song from your high-school/college years.

  • Write a few words about who made you listen to this song for the first time, what this song means to you (was it a breakup song? you blasted it at 100% on your audio system when you were partying with your friends?) whatever you want.
  • Write your text while listening to the song. As soon as the song ends, wrap up what you where writing and submit it.
  • Do this for 7 days in a row if you get nominated.
  • Mention one person who should do this on each day.
  • Tag it with #musicwaybackchallenge and include these rules at the bottom of your post.

In my first post, I forgot the nomination, but not this time! So @lk666, let's hear it! \m/
