Hmmm.
Question asked on musing-io
Is it right to only seek for forgiveness from God after you've caused your brother/sister pain?
To my understanding, forgiving means accepting you did wrong and accepting you hurt the other party. Let's look into the Bible of the story of Esau and Jacob. Am sure most if not everyone knows this particular story of two brothers that the eldest sold his birth right to the youngest because of a plate of porridge.
Not diverting from the initial question but just need to say all these before answering. Ok Jacob receiving Esau's birth right wasn't enough that had to trick their father and also took Esau's blessings. That was what got Esau angry and threatened to kill Jacob, he feared for his life and ran. On the road to his uncles place he met God and God forgave him. God forgiving him made him prosper in his uncle's house but with all these wealth, he had things pain in his heart so he set forth to go apologize to his brother after several years.
So with all this said, I conclude that asking for forgiveness from God is the first thing to do but if your brother or sister still has something against, that alone can be a sin. For the Bible says make peace with all nations. So if you did wrong apologize because that's the right thing to do.
