There are a few languages that would be good to know and would benefit you in the future. If your first language is English then one other language would benefit you no end.

The ones that you should look at are Spanish, the reason being is that there is a huge chunk of the world population that speak this language and their numbers are growing.

Chinese is important if you are dealing with manufacturing products as the Chinese companies head this sector. This would give your self an advantage over many of your competitors in this field. You could negotiate your own deals without having a translator.

Any language is good to know as it helps you communicate understanding the local people.

For me the language is a mere tool to understand human beings. So in a sense I would say that the more speakers a language has then more is the reason to learn it - at least that's the case for me.

1. English

2. Mandarin

3. Hindustani (a combination of Hindi, Urdu and other North Indian dialects)

4. Spanish

5. Arabic

With these five languages alone, you can talk to half the world. Although I have always preferred quality over quantity but in this particular case I believe that quality emerges from quantity.

I have always been told that if you are going to go in to the business arena, Mandarin is probably the best language to try and learn.  If you are living in the United States, it would probably be more common to learn Spanish.  If I had to choose though I would pick Dutch.

Final answer: Mandarin

In my opinion, the best language to learn right now aside from English would be Mandarin, why? because China will keep getting stronger and their economy will continue to influence every region across the world and just imagine being one of the few people in your country that put the necessary time into learning Mandarin to be more valuable, it won't replace English any time soon as the Lingua Franca of the world but it will become the 2nd in line to be the top Lingua Franca in the future and that is almost a fact!

5 Foreign Languages that Must Be Mastered Other Than English

2. Hindi

Secondly there is Hindi which is the official language in India besides English. The rapid development of Indian technology in the past few years makes it increasingly recognized in the world. Call it Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO and Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO is from this country.

It's no surprise that you must learn Hindi language skills. Remarkably Hindi also occupies the fifth position as the language with the most speakers in the world after Mandarin and English.

3. Arabic

Furthermore, there is Arabic, which is certainly not foreign to those of you who are Muslims. Arabic is generally used by people in the Middle East and North Africa region with 25 countries making it the official language.

According to Ethnologue, Arabic has been used by more than 280 million people and occupies the fourth position of the most widely used languages in the world. So don't forget to study it, yeah guys.

4. Russian language

Then as a superpower and the largest area in the world, you must also learn Russian language. Russian is not only the official language in Russia, but also in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and other countries that have joined the Soviet Union.

Learning Russian is easy. For those of you who have a basic German language it might not be difficult to switch to learning Russian. Ethnologue also recorded Russian in eighth place in the world with 171 million speakers.

5. Japanese

Lastly there is Japanese which is certainly very familiar to you fans of manga or anime right? As a technology giant in the world, of course you can't miss learning this one language guys.
