Yes! Back when I was in high-school the doctor said I have a "Rheumatic Fever" where in fact I have a "Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis".
Since he was my doctor for a pretty long time (I was quite sickly as a kid), we trusted his every decision. But for days his prescriptions didn't work that after two weeks he finally gave up. Well he didn't really say that he gave up but he referred us to another expert doctor. It was that doctor who made the correct diagnosis and days after I am well again.
We still trust that doctor though as he was strong enough to refer us to a specialist rather than him continuing with his diagnosis with no improvements in sight.
Although we could have saved a lot of money if he made the correct diagnosis immediately :)
