There is definitely a correlation between drug abuse and poverty. Some people see it as a reason from the everyday pressures of life . If people are financial insecure then they loose hope and resort to drug abuse. Drugs are the same as alcohol as they take you away from the strains of everyday life. Some people don't have a job and get bored. Some people get mixed up with the wrong crowd. I'm not saying rich people don't abuse drugs but it is way more prevalent in the poverty striken areas
