Don't forget that the 2 outside the brackets modifies what's inside the brackets. Because of the distributive principle, 6 / 2(1+2) is the same as 6 / (2+4). Although many people have gotten 9 as the answer, when correctly resolving the parentheses, you get the answer of 1.

Don't forget that the 2 outside the brackets modifies what's inside the brackets. Therefore, due to the distributive principle, it's 6/ (2+4) which equals 1.

Wrong, you first must calculate the sum that's inside the brackets.

6/2(1+2)

6/2(3)

6/2x3

3x3

9
