It wasn't necessarily "remarkable", and nor do I really want to emphasize the comedy aspect of this situation, but I did witness something somewhat funny at a funeral of a loved one once.
Again, I don't want to put the spotlight on the comedic aspect of this very tragic moment so I won't say exactly who's funeral it was- but anyway. Someone I knew was being buried in a cemetery on top of a hill. The cemetery itself winds about half a mile up the hill, surrounded by woods, and is rather beautiful. Anyways, at the top of the looping drive through the gravestones there's a large flat area atop the hill that was clearly a newer addition whence the old plots were full.
The drive split left off the loop; or right, depending on whether you were driving the wrong way or not; and when you rolled down the dirt path towards the back of the clearing you were looking directly at a very old white Victorian farmhouse. Being that my loved one's plot was new, and the place was filling up fast, the plot was towards the back fence and in direct view of the house.
The day of the ceremony was fairly windy so at first it was hard to hear much, even the ceremony itself. But as the wind died down I heard the simple, distant, crack of a can, accompanied with some moving water. I look over at the Victorian house, and there's a young-ish couple sitting, the man shirtless, on the tailgate of a pickup truck. In the bed of the adjacent truck, which looked like it hadn't run in a long time, was what looked like a reinforced kiddie pool, and two young kids were playing in it while the parents looked on and got splashed, drinking Bud Light. Over on the deck a slightly older kid sat swinging his legs while watching the funeral. He couldn't have been older than 14, and he was also drinking a Bud LIght, but I don't think his parents knew he stole it from them because he kept taking fast sips and putting it kind of between his side and his back, at an angle I'd imagine his parents couldn't see it from.
It was a pretty ridiculous scene. Although I was particularly distraught by the funeral, I didn't mind this scene all that much because it kind of provided a much-needed comic relief for me. So, again, I'm not sure if "remarkable" is the right word. But it was certainly unique
