Next week, Elon Musk promises he will be restoring the accounts of American Neo-Nazis like Nick Fuentes and Jared Taylor. (Musk is a serial pathological liar, so what will actually happen is anyone’s guess)
It’s difficult to comprehend how fast the Overton Window is shifting towards fascism.
As the world goes to Hell, led enthusiastically by abject morons, at least understand the Latin that Musk is quoting. “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” is popularly translated as “the voice of the people is the voice of God”…. but Musk is using it wildly (and ironically) out of context.
The earliest use of that phrase is usually attributed to Alcuin of York in a letter to Charlemagne, and the full context is:
“Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit.”
Translated to contemporary English:
“And those people should not be listened to who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God, since the riotousness of the crowd is always very close to madness.”
