Hopeful

I joined steemit today.
I am hopeful that this platform will make a difference in the lives of individuals, and I mean individuals in the truest sense of the word- not group identity.
That each human being, in expressing himself, with care, without intending any harm to anyone else and without trying to win favour with any powerful group, or backed by any powerful group, will be able to do so without harassment or censorship.
That this platform will allow everyone the same treatment, whether the ideas are unpopular or an affront to prevailing acceptable ideologies.
That every member of this community will embrace the approach of "what is good for the goose is good for the gander" in praise or condemnation.
That logic and truth with be the instruments for measuring ideas and positions on any and every subject and that when we disagree, which we must, it will be in a non-violent and respectful way.
That this community, through dialogue and research, will allow for the useful education of its users to the extent that people will start out believing one thing and, through this medium and by maintaining an open mind, come to hold a completely different view. After all "only a fool never changes his mind"
