I looove this photo, saw it today and decided to share it with my steemit family. It shows a mother with her child - could be a boy or girl, it doesn't matter! Its way too beautiful to get into the pettiness of gender! This is clearly a mum who understand and loves fashion - fashion is a cultural thing, what you know as fashion might not be fashionable to me and vice versa! To her people this lady is very beautiful - i personally think she should be in a cover of a famous magazine.

She screams loyalty just by looking at what she's wearing, that's some form of a regalia - the beads, the ornaments, the bracelets, the leather skirt and the artistic way she has worn her hair looks queenly! She might be a wife to a king or chief in their African kingdom. That looks like a beach too, some sort of of an African island. Lovely, i tell ya!

When i saw this photo, i couldn't help but think. It reminded me of a conversation we had with friends about culture and civilisation. Some friends were like most Africans are not civilised! And the reasons they gave were petty and unfounded, how does one become uncivilized by donning a particular attire? Or living in certain conditions that are not deemed urban? Or eating habits or worshipping - How does a persons way of life has to do with being civilised? Who has set the measures or rules that are to be followed for one to attain civilisation? Is there a manual?

I have had the pleasure to interact with our own Masai people and their culture they are a unique and popular tribe in Kenya due to their long preserved culture. Despite education, civilisation and the western culture influences, the masai have clung to their traditional way of life making them a symbol of Kenyan culture. The distinctive culture, dress style and their way of life has given them recognition international. They are one of the reasons tourists come to Kenya!

I would conclude by saying that culture and civilisation are one and the same except for modernization inform of technology and urbanization.
You have a group of people whose culture is top notch, respectable to human and nature but hardly recognizes technology and urbanization and you have a group who claim to be civilised, highly urbanized with a lot of technological usage but have no respect to human life or nature! Or you have a select few who are both respectful and tech savvy.
