Hello everyone! So, I'm here tonight, opening myself up to you, and participating on this excellent initiative of @rocking-dave, who came up with this awesome idea to attempt to immortalize some of our best creations on Steemit of last year. This is a challenge, and I'm pretty sure it was a contest at some moment, but I think I'm late for that part, haha.
However, I got pretty hung up on the idea of looking back at my older posts and seeing which ones were my best 5 ones. It's funny, because the ones I chose are (mostly) very personal ones, and now I'm highlighting them for you.
I hope you don't mind my explanations, I'm not too good with summaries, though, as many of you know, I'm a passionate (amateur) writer and poet.
#5. Poem: The placebo of you
This is a poem I wrote about six months back, while I was going through a very big transition in my life. Then, I was starting to sober up after some heavy months full of tragedy and indecision on how to fix my problems.
I began reading about Buddhism and started liking the lifestyle, and I also started my first semester on college. I met a few people that made an impact on me, and I decided I would face my demons and fight them, trying hard to get away from addictions that weren't taking me anywhere but down. This poem is about that. [Read Full Post]
#4. Poem: Where's my headline?
Funny enough, as I was becoming a more aware person, I also began to understand the actual requirements a career such as Economics has for students. I was feeling stressed, and I spent many nights with no sleep thanks to all the reading and writing I had to do. All these things made me get away from writing, which is my passion; and one night I decided to write a poem. This is what came out. [Read Full Post]
#3. Poem: Checklist
Believe it or not, I'm constantly busy, having little time to spare for myself whilst fighting anxiety. Sometimes, for me, some extremely simple things like making or answering a phone call, waiting for the bus, and talking to the cashier at a store, have become pretty difficult tasks. I can have a very bad time if I receive a phone call not having been warned about it before. I remember writing this after a very exhausting day at college after dealing with many triggering situations. [Read Full Post]
#2. Blog: Mom, I got a tattoo!
So after thinking about it for years, and saving up money, I finally decided to get a tattoo. It was such a joyful experience, leave alone the result! I am extremely happy with my owl tattoo, and after such a wonderful day at a tattoo studio I thought it would be an important memory to share, specially because even nowadays there's still so much people who have taboos against tattoos and people who portray them. #1. Story: Memories of an artist
This right here is the best story I've come up with, and I shared it on Steemit when I was a newbie for a writing contest. I never expected it to be so popular, and it was the biggest hit for me here on this platform. I was so happy I even cried.
This is a tragic love story I had written many months before sharing it, and everytime I read it, it makes me cry in nostalgic sorrow. It's part of a bigger story I am currently writing, called Walk on Water. It is actually an LGBT story.
This particular fragment, however, features the story of a loving couple of youngsters, which begun slowly and ended too fast.
Describing the feelings our main character gets as he draws the girl he thought would be forever his partner in crime, "Memories of an Artist" pictures not only young love but also premature misery, reminding us to truly value what we have before it is too late. [Read Full Post]
