Trying Kwun-Ya, Myanmar's Drug of Choice (The World's Most Addictive Drug?)

in myanmar •  6 years ago  (edited)

Today we try kwun-ya, a Myanmar stimulant that's highly addicting. It's made with the betel nut, lime, and a variety of other ingredients. We go to Inle Lake to track it down and give it a try. The betel nut is an addictive substance used all over the world in places like Myanmar, Indonesia, India, parts of Africa and East Asia. In India it's known as Paan, and it has different names everywhere, but you'll always know it's around because of the red spit stains all over the ground.
